What is better top or side?

After reading another thread I was wondering what has the better CTR top ads or side ads on Google.

We get twice the ctr on the top - not sure bout conversions.

Shak how can less clicks be better? - are you are saying that the cost per conversion is less on the bottom?

Do you have any strategies for getting to the bottom (and staying there) that you'd like to share with us? ;)

About top vrs side, I've had several clients who have mentioned huge jumps in Adwords traffic and then noticed that the reason was they'd been temporarily kicked up to the top.

All my ads are on the top except for a few that there are still some premium ads. Most of my top ads are the only one on top.
