I've been calling them for the last half hour. A recording says they're open until 7 pm Pacific time- but it's not yet 4 pm.

Hey AWA, what's the deal?

Sigh. :(

Sorry about that martinibuster.

You called during a short meeting for the phone team - long since over. I hope you'll try again now. Still an hour and 20 minutes to 7:00 pm! ;)

Our apologies for the inconvenience.

I called around 4:45 PST and someone named Angela answered and took care of my issue right away.

Thanks! :) Y

Ummm, maybe it's just me, but I don't seem to be able to find AdWords' phone #. I have Overture's in my address book, but lo and behold when an AdWords campaign was disapproved a couple of days ago with no e-mail/explanation, I can't find their phone #. Is it against the TOS to post it here? Help...

if I remember from memory it was 1-800-2-google. Don't slap me if I'm wrong ;)

Hoovers.com.

No offense, but it's amazing how many people don't know how to search the internet for information. And everytime someone mentions calling customer service, there's always at least one person that mentions they can't find the phone number.

>And I always post this rant<

Hi Martinibuster

Bearing in mind the number of people who post this question, I think it's a bit daft of Google to hide the number.

Don't they want to talk to us or something?

Don't they want to talk to us or something?

Google has an excellent email service in place. I conduct most of my communications with them in that manner with satisfactory results. They would probably like for others to go that route as well, because frankly it's probably more economical.

As for the way I feel about it, it's a jungle out there and if you can't wise up to the basics of internet search, never mind anything that needs two brain cells to figure out, you're going to be left behind, and deservedly so.

If you want to do the lost, the helpless, the needy, the naive, or whatever you choose to call them a favor, the best thing you could ever do is teach them how to fish for the information.

That way, when they're scratching their heads next week wondering how they can contact Overture, they know how to find that information.

If you merely hand out the information, what will they do next week? They're going to come right back here with their hands out asking for another fish.

By giving people a direction you empower them to become better marketers. By handing out information you are perpetuating their ignorance, perpetuating their role as a beggar. There is nothing nice, or helpful, about keeping people in the dark.

That's why I choose to empower them. It's the best anyone can do for another person.

Jeez, mb, it wasn't like I was asking how to build a website or anything - and to be branded out of hand as helpless and naive certainly makes new posters such as myself go back to lurking. So much for the openness of a forum based on helping others.

And by the way, I easily found Google's corporate headquarters' phone number long before posting - what I was asking for was a specific AdWords cust svc number. It seems that you spent far more time ranting than actually giving up that one fish that may have, in turn, headed off others asking the same question - or simply ignoring the post altogether.

I'll file away that Hoovers.com link away for when I need Google company statistics. "Wise up to the basics of internet search" indeed.

Hi there,
No offense intended, that's why I wrote, "or whatever you choose to call them" because there are those who don't fit into the categories of helpless, lost or naive. I certainly don't mean for you or others to refrain from posting. The entire point of my post is a suggestion of a better way to help people- which is where my heart is at.

In the United States, if you have Google's corporate number in hand then you are halfway to AdWords because if you listen to the message, within about 10 seconds, they tell you the AdWords phone number.

That's how I obtained it. ;)

That fish has been handed out many times yet that didn't head you off from asking, did it?

Unfortunately, not everyone is able or willing to do a site search (for whatever reason- and I'll refrain this time from naming them).

This isn't about teaching people to search. It's just good manners to put a number on your site. If they were anyone else I'd do a fart and close their web page.

I can't even get them to answer my email! The system is down apparently (at least the lost password part) and I can't get going on it.
