Hi,

I am wondering if there is a free tool I can use that much like overture, will give me a rough estimate of the amount of searches were done the previous month for any given keyword.

Thanks,

Cody

If you go into Adwords and act like you're signing up, I think you can use the keyword estimator before you give your name and billing info. That's how it was when I signed up.

It's not exact, but it gives pretty good estimates.

The other option for checking Google activity is Wordtracker.

Hi,

I am trying the 1 day trial of wordtracker, but do not know how to view the searches that were done on google for a specific keyword.

For example, I have a keyword picked out, I go into competition search for that keyword, and click to see lycos and google. When the results come up, both google and lycos have the same count, such as "198". This doesn't make sense as I would think that google would have a higher count on a keyword than lycos, as google gets more traffic.

Thanks for your help.

Sounds a bit odd. I'm sure there is a warning that says if you try to run two searches simultaneously or select more than two engines for competition search, your results can be corrupted.

If it's not this, and all of the numbers are identical between Lycos and Google, you could drop Wordtracker support an email and tell them you think there is a problem ...

..searches that were done on google...

I'm pretty sure that WT is just giving their best guess (an *estimate*) of searches done on G. G's not sharing the real info with them.
