It seems a lot of people (not saying you) think its easy to create a campaign - and pop it up there. Then are not happy with results.
I use the tools that are available to me in adwords - keyword tool, negative keywords, use the brackets to get hold of specific phrases.
I also use extra tools - I use wordtracker, I put in a general search term for my ad, and it gives me a list of keywords that might appear for that term - I thin take the WHOLE LIST - and use the ones I dont want as negative keywords.
Even overture gives you a keyword tool.
I also watch my campaigns for the 1st month - and remove words that seem to general and get lots of clicks but dont make sales - ie I might bid on "tools" but get lots of clicks and no sales (I use individual word tracking with commission junction)
just my experience od adwords. I have only been using it since Xmas.

I had the same with one of my ads. Thousand of impressions, but just a few clicks. Good thing is that these impressions are not part of your CTR calculation for Google canceling ads with low CTR.
Tje next good thing was that these clicks I received from googles content partners converted to sales.
