Spliting a Campaign by Geographic Area

Separate Campaign for Canada & USA

Right now we have a single campaign for both Canada and USA using Adwords.

I was thinking of spliting our Campaign into two Campaigns. Once for USA (Very Competitive) and Canada (Little Competition).

We can spend alot less in Canada to obtain a top ranking adword, and we might even make the premium spots for Canada, if adwords work that way.

Anybody tried this, or does Google automatically charge you less for a geographic area with little adword competition.

Or in other words, am I wasting my time by breaking the campaign down by geographic areas.

Sounds like a smart idea to me, lgn.

I've done so for Europe and US. Got better ROI. You may also cosider specific keyphrases for each territory, maybe french translations for canada, local products as keywords etc.
I wish adwords would provide a campaign/adgroup copy/paste.
