maybe i am impatient, well, no idea...
well, i see lots of blog that purposely target for specific keyword, the whole blog is crap, although Google TOS stated that they don't allowed gambling site, but i could see google still provided Gambling casino ads for them....? why? i am wondering.
i am qurious whether the adsense would work on blog?
Depends on the topic, the content, and why people are visiting your blog. A personal diary of the your day's events or a blog about politics probably won't do very well. But a blog devoted to reviews of golf accessories, luxury hotels, or upscale widgets might attract well-paying ads and a decent clickthrough rate.
When I calculate income per page written, politics is 75% below the average income per page, but in the same range as my pages about travels.
Travel encompasses a lot of territory. On my own site, for example, pages that appeal heavily to armchair travelers (such as photo pages) don't earn nearly as much income as travel-planning pages do (especially travel-planning pages about topics that attract competitive bids from advertisers). And travel-narrative or travelogue sites have a lot more trouble earning decent revenues than travel-planning sites do, because most readers aren't actively researching ways to spend their money.
IMHO, the biggest weakness of contextual advertising is the fact that buyers have very little control over their audiences. Site-targeted CPM ads are Google's first step toward rectifying that situation, and we'll probably see more changes as time goes by. (For example, Google could break out sites or pages by conversion statistics, so that advertisers could pay a premium to have their ads displayed only on pages whose clicks have been demonstrated to have an average conversion rate of X% or better. That could be even more useful to an advertiser than knowing that the average reader was over 35 with a disposable income of $50,000 or whatever.)

I personally know a (well-known) industry blogger with a site just as EFV describes and he makes his living solely from the advertising on it (currently AdSense).

Yes, and About.com is essentially a collection of blogs these day. (It uses Movable Type as its publishing platform.)
I've been blogging for nearly 3 years now, added Adsense to it a little over a year ago.
Can I retire on the income? Absolutely not. But let's just say that I make enough to get a check every month.
