What has your experience been with image ads? Are they all CPM based? Or, what percentage of them is CPM?
Thank you.
Also, I don't think you can display image ads only. (You can block image ads, but I don't know of any way to block text ads.) That's probably just as well, since image ads are only a small percentage of AdSense ads.

Erku, I would select text/image ads instead of the image ads only option. With text/image ad, image ads would appear if its EPC are equal to or greater than the total of all text ads in the ad unit.
Personally, I have surved "image ads only" for a while that nobody clicks on, their EPC are horrible and worst of all affects negatively the smart pricing of the remaining ad units on the same page.
This has been an option, to select image ads only, for months.
Weird. The only options I see in the "Ad Type Preference" dialogue are:
( ) Display text ads only in all ad units
( ) Display text and image ads in all ad units
Maybe it's buried somewhere else.
In any case, it seems to be that choosing image ads only would be a bad move for most publishers just because Google's inventory of image ads is likely to be a smaller than its inventory of text ads (which should mean lousier ad matching, EPC, and CTR).
For example, there are text-based CPM ads as well as image based CPM ads. Additionally, not all image ads are CPM ads; some are CPC.
As moftary mentioned, by opting in to both text and image ads, a larger pool of advertisers will be competing in an auction to display on your site. Whichever ad holds the highest revenue potential for you - whether it's a CPC or CPM, text or image ad - will appear on your site.
