adsense border

with or without border

2 weeks ago when I launched my site with adsense I am receiving at least an average of 3 clicks per day. I put the large rectangle on the middle of the page without a border.

2 days ago, I redesign my site and make it look more pros and contructed some borders on some part of my page, including the large rectangle. So supprise since then I received visitors but none of them click on my ads.

No border really sells this ads, how about you?

No borders gave me a 15% increase in ctr on the adlinks. That dropped though to 5% for all the users that just thought it was normal links and learned there is no content behind it.

I think anything you can do to make not look like adspace that can be subconsciously blended out is good as long as it is within T&C.

Funnily enough making the standard blue link color gave another 5% increase but i only have 3 days on that as sample. :)

Use the Google heat map for placement and blend the background color to match your page's background. No borders. Use traditional blue links with black text and URL. If that doesn't help, start testing variations until you light upon the best set-up. It's the only way to go.

Yes in general no border performs best, but like it's been said, every site is different.

I think keeping those standard borders makes the ads more subjected to ad-blindness.

I switch between border and no border, and even between blended and 'less'-blended colors.
It gave me better CTR.
People who browse your site, get used to the ads even after some pages. Making a little difference in color or border can attract their attention.
