"Today" amount and site totals don't ad up

Google AdSense keeps confusing me. It seems to update the stats very unreliably and independently. My "totals" for today have reached almost five bucks (a record for me), while the list of clicks and stuff indiciate a much lower total.

This is the same every day. Somebody needs to redesign their interface.

I got a big click dump today. My CTR is nearly double the average and I had over half a full day's clicks by 11 am. That may be what's going on with your stats, too.

Funny, my clicks & rev. are WAY behind today. Just shows to go ya, there isn't a real consistent way to be sure of ANYTHING!

What else is broken in Google, if they can't even get the admin panel stats right?

Well, you will note that Google very clearly states that stats may not be fully updated for 24 hours, so I don't know why you are complaining they aren't getting the stats "right".

Stats often update at different times, some days update slower than others, or different parts of the reports coming from different servers - something that has been noted since the beginning of AdSense - but after 24 hours, you will see the day's totals completely updated.

Jenstar: I could accept this if it were for the current day, but even my "yesterday" stats are like this. So I get pretty confused/scared.

The grand total is the only thing you need to be concerned with unless all your other totals EXCEED the grand total, then you need to write to support and ask them why PhDs can't add.

The patterns and behaviors I'm seeing over the entire year that I've been in the program seem to indicate that an awful lot of shuffling and jiggering are going on in that black box.

While the bottom line is all that really matters according to a close reading of the TOS...

***the appearance of stability is often an indication of actual stability, and the reverse is often true as well...***

No, no I'm not saying that the sky is falling but aren't those little tiny cracks over there by that big cloud in the west?

So maybe we just shouldn't be looking there.

Here I am going to let you see my very mysterious stats for today:

Today's Earnings: $5.54 (wow... I'm starting to make big money here...)

Hmm?! --> 5,998 41 0.7% $0.92 $5.54
<snip> 2,281 14 0.6% $0.47 $1.08
<snip> 6 2 33.3% $153.36 $0.92
<snip> 41 2 4.9% $10.88 $0.45
<snip> 120 2 1.7% $2.17 $0.26
<snip> 24 1 4.2% $10.48 $0.25
<snip> 125 0 0.0% $0.00 $0.00
<snip> 1 0 0.0% $0.00 $0.00
<snip> 3 0 0.0% $0.00 $0.00
<snip> 12 0 0.0% $0.00 $0.00
<snip> 18 0 0.0% $0.00 $0.00

(Yes... those <snip>s are all by me.)

PS: This would be sooo much easier if I could post URLs to screenshots... :-)

Okay... it just updated to 6+ bucks and 6,206 impressions... without the other stats updating.

I'm getting quite scared here.

Sorry for posting three times in a row, but I have to tell you some things.

I just now realized that you could switch to English from Swedish. This came as a happy surprise, as I am against translation of all software (even if Swedish is my native language). This is much more comfortable, and also feels much faster for some reason.

The reports are different in the English version. I swear! It's weird, but I'm pretty sure of it. Maybe there is some kind of bug in the Swedish one (this is another reason I hate translated software -- it feels outdated and unprioritized).

Anyway... the huge number of impressions/clicks seem to come from outside my channels (which I have now deleted and will start over with from scratch), even though I don't know of any site using my Google AdSense code other than those. I just have a few ones that hardly even get impressions that I hadn't added to my channels, but those can't be it.

Oh, well... I'm sure everything will even out nicely.

As I said before, stats can take up to 24 hours to be completely updated - so yesterday's stats may not be completely updated until midnight tonight PST.

But looking at the stats you posted - are you referring to channel data not the same as your aggregate total? There are many different reasons for this as well, and nothing to be alarmed about either, and definitely nothing to blame Google for.

Bottom line, your aggregate totals are your complete totals.

One of the reasons I can think of is that you might install a default channel in some pages. You forgot to select a channel when you set up your AdSense code for these pages. You can make a search in source code for [google_ad_channel ="";] to find out whether this is true.

FromRocky: My browser crashed, but what I was going to say is that that could very well be it. I recently removed those evil, bandwidth-eating lines.
