I am thinking of making an offer on a site that looks like this, the idea being to ADSENSE it from the start and change very little to the site itself.
From a purely adsense perspective, how could I judge the value? :
- Great original content spanning back to 2000 that is naturally well linked up.
- Not ranked by Alexa.
- Not monetised in any sense, but could be easily with both adsense and amazon etc.
- No traffic figures, other than a reliable report that during 2004 it had up to 5000 hits a day. Yes, hits, that remarkably unhelpful term.
- No domain name, site based around a domain name that was allowed to expire.
It is niche content that is easily 'transferable' in that its written mainly on one very long page. Without any of the usual standards by which to judge a site, how can I work out a sensible offer for the site as it stands?
Many thanks in advance for your thoughts..I am thinking it looks like a content purchase deal right now, but that might be hard to calculate. Bear in mind its a personal site for someone who put alot of work into it and is unlikely to see it as anything else.
I understand why you say that, but in this case the owner is quite a well known guy and its public knowledge that he overtook another, similar but not same, site that he developed into something that is now a nice earner for him.
As a result he just forgot to care about his first site, the one I am thinking of offering on.
Essentially, the site comes with no income and only the potential, thanks to the niche content, to be an earner. It would be like starting a new site with hundreds of pages of content already in place, I suppose.
With that in mind, what price range should I even be considering? My first thought was 200GBP, is that an insult or the opposite?
I'd really appreciate the forums help on this one, newbie as I am to buying and selling sites.
Is it available now? Or will you have to start over on a completely new domain?
If you can't get the old name, you're really not buying a "site", you're buying content.
So how much content is there, how many pages?
Could you buy the same or similar content elsewhere?
Its a great point about not a site but content.
Its 24 categories with an average of 8000 words per category.
192 000 words, which divided by 400@6USD (cheap freelancer) is
2880 USD
Bear in mind this is personal opinion/experience stuff and not researched articles. Its interesting, largely correct (not insane) but its not anything more than blog content, in the technical sense.
Too much for a site with no domain name and no associated traffic?
You can sticky me with a bit more info about the content if you want.
