Competive Ad filter question

Hi..simple question (I hope). How long does it normally take the competitive ad filter additions to kick in once you've added some? I keep adding ones and the list looks different each time I login. At first there were none, then there were old ones, then the old ones were gone, and the new ones appeared. It's very confusing...is this normal?

It takes about 4 hours for any changes to have an effect. I've noticed on some occasions it takes even longer.

Thanks...how about 24 hrs and the ads are still appearing? Ridiculous.

How have you got the url to block? The url listed on the ad isn't necessarily the one you need to block. If you use the adsense preview tool, check ghe ads you are interested in and click the show url button. Use the url shown to block.

The other thing is that blocking www.spamads.com/spampage.html will block only that page - blocking spamads.com will block the entire domain. There is a help page on the adsense site that explains it better.

There was a recent post on creating effective filters in the mailbag section of the AdSense blog at [adsense.blogspot.com....]

I recommend reading this post to make sure your filters are implemented effectively.
