Placing adsense inside members only paid area

any rules against it?

Is there any rules againt placing adsense blocks inside a "paid members only area".

Just double checking before I act on anything.

Some sites do this with permission appearantly. It would be wise before you do this too to email Adsense about it, there are targeting issues at the least.

I dont think it is against tos. but i am not sure.

i have a site that has adsense block in header, and is accesed both for open areas and member areas. It is not exclusive to open or members.

I guess many sites have common adsense blocks that appear both in members and non members areas..

There are thousands of forum sites with forums that require extra permissions to enter.

But then again - I would like to know the official word as well.

Even if it were allowed by the TOS, which I am not sure if it is, the ads would not be relevant at all, because the search engine spiders wouldn't be able to reach the content, and find relevant ads.

You could allow the IP of the adsense spider access to the forum to serve relevant ads no?

This was talked about six months ago or so and I believe Google allows it.

I will tell you from experience that the advertisements on the restricted areas of my forum are just as relavant as the ones on the other pages.

Yes, you can set it up to let the GoogleBot into your member's only area, but in my experiences, even doing this affects the relevancy of the ads.

I've been doing this pretty well ever since Google starts - the Google AdSense bot is registered as a user on my site, and sees the member-only information. It works well.

It's NOT against the TOS; indeed, I've asked Google for technical information to help me spot the bots specifically for this purpose.

However, if you serve these pages to the search bot that produces the Google search results, then you WILL, in all probability, get banned from the Google search. (They'll also be available in the Google cache, so negates the point of hiding them behind registration anyway).

I'd argue that a members-only PAID area, as you talk about, shouldn't have any ads there anyway...
