Easy way to disable Adsense!

If my site was to experience a DOS attack or have the ads fraudulently clicked on - is there a very quick way to disable the ads. Or would I need to take the site down until I informed google?

Hi Ricey,

To my knowledge there is no "disable ads now" button in the AdSense control panel, but what I've done is to put all of our AdSense blocks of codes into include files, which could be quite quickly "emptied" if necessary.

You could script the "emptying" - probably easiest by creating a script that renames "myads.php" to "myads.old" and "myads.empty" to "myads.php" if that makes sense. Then you could simply run your "disableadsnow.sh" script.

Yes, first that and second as you inform google send them information about your logbook, so they can track the attackers...Probably they are not just attacking you.

And third, block IPs from attackers

That would be a nice feature in certain situations. I doubt that it would get used much - kind of like a spare tire in the trunk of your vehicle, but it's nice it's there if you need it.

Maybe add the capability to shut down a channel also.

You can use php includes, then its just a matter of uploading/downloading a file to turn the ads on/off.

If you have a modular CMS, all the code for an adsense unit goes into one module, which is easy to turn off. Maybe CSS can be used the same way, I'm not a CSS expert.
