I'm approaching the threshold to get paid by this program and don't really understand the PIN part.
When are we expected to apply for this, or is it automatic?

Thanks.

Itīs supposed to be automatic but as the posts in here prove, google screwed up the system and they very rarely send you the PIN when they say they have.

The first PIN never arrives, you have to go to the account settings and ask them to send you "another" PIN, you will then receive an email from google telling you they have sent you a second PIN via post (again a lie because they never sent you the first one)

However, this second PIN should get to you eventually.

please note that the PIN only applies to those of us who are paid by EFT not those paid by cheque.

Actually think it is all new publishers after January 28th, 2005 that require a PIN regardless of payment method.

I see.......
I plan to get paid (eventually) by check, but now I'm still confused.

However, I'm almost afraid to cash in my first one with all the horror stories floating around about people gettting booted at that point.

Boy oh boy- I've worked very hard and honestly.
Hope it doesn't happen to me.

It took almost four weeks for the pin to reach me, hopefully you get yours sooner.

Got mine in 6 days. You need to enter your PIN and tax information to get paid.

I signed up around July 10 2005 and got my PIN in the mail around August 14 2005. So you should get it around a month or so.

Hi all -

Just to clarify - PINs are automatically mailed to the street address indicated in your account after your account balance reaches $50.

After you have accumulated $50, you can check to see when your PIN was mailed on the 'Payment History' page of your account under the 'Please enter your PIN' link. This link will only appear after your PIN has been mailed.

If you don't receive your PIN within 2 weeks of the date it was mailed, you can request a new PIN from within your AdSense account.

If you have any other questions about PINs, I recommend visiting the following AdSense support page, which contains answers to many questions relating to payments:

Just a thought.

For those who need pin numbers and are waiting to get them through regular mail wouldn't it make a lot more sense for Google to post the new pin number in the publishers control panel since it is on a secure server?

It will wind up there anyway and look at the postage Google will save to pass on to shareholders. :-)

Been in AdSense for several months now, and first time I have ever heard of this PIN idea. Don't think I've ever received anything, and I earn more than $50 a month. No notes in my AdSense account, and I get checks and cash them successfully. Odd!

LOL- Very odd indeed that you have never done the PIN requirement.
I did in fact find a mailing date from back in July, but nothing ever showed in the mailbox.
Sent off for a second one.

So....doesn't it state you can only request it a couple of times?
What then...if it never does come?
(My paranoid side stepping up- when I do get it, I'll be in here telling others not to worry...hehe)

Regarding email vs regular mail....is a way for google to verify information is accurate before any cheque mailing. In regards to not getting a PIN number see note about January 2005 effective date. Is not retroactive requirement.

I signed up a while back, but didn't start actually using the program until now. I have had $50 in my account for about 15 days and it doesn't say anything about a PIN. Maybe I signed up before they were required?

Why do they need to verify with a PIN anyway? If they're sending the check to your address, isn't that verification enough?
