CPM image ads running

I just noticed that when checking stats that cpm image ads must have been running on my site most of today (nice earnings on channels without clicks + just a few clicks on other channels). I did go to my site and took a look, loaded two pages, and yes, they show image ads.

The problem now is, do I dare visit my own site? Will Google have something set up to not count hits from my ip? I was planning on doing some work on the site today and will want to visit the pages online to take a look at them and check that everything is ok.

Yes, you can visit your own site. ASA has posted to that effect. Of course, if you start to visit every page on your site over and over again, that might not be a good idea.

So I'll keep it to a minumum. I might need to reload some pages though. Hm....better be careful.

I visit my site everyday because i edit contents online. I do not think this is a problem. Google's tracking software is not that lame to not know who the webmasters are.

SO i think it is perfectly safe to visit your site everyday, even every hour, what the heck, it's my own site and i cant even visit it? :>

sirkei, of course, Google obviously removes your visits from the impression count. I'm just wondering about possible alarm bells if a site receives MANY impressions from its owner. (And I vaguely remember ASA saying something about that.)

"Many" is a relative term. You hitting the site "many" times to view updates, check content, stare at how pretty your design is, etc. is probably not many impressions to Google. For them, I assume, "many" would be some sort of bot that loaded the page hundreds or thousands of times an hour for a period of time from the same IP. That would be pretty easy to spot.

At a $5CPM, if you loaded the page 100 times a day, that's only $.50, I doubt that's going to raise any suspicions... And that's only if they don't already filter you out, which I would bet they do.

Thanks for all your input on this topic. Regular ads are back now and earnings are nice. I did some work on the site without loading the cpm ads too often. Not worrying after reading all that you had to say.
