Is Adsense more fun than 'real' work?

Howdy folks,

Just curious, is there anybody out there who has more fun in his daytime job than with building websites and running ads/banners/affiliates/etc?

My "daytime job" sucks big time. I have it only to pay the bills - a necessary evil. I'd much rather just build websites as it's a much more enjoyable way to spend my time.

I quit my real job to do this. Not only do I make more money and have more fun/freedom/opportunity/etc... but I get to rub elbows with the big boys and maybe even learn something from them (when they decide to impart, I mean)

It all depends on the paycheck. If you work and work to get AdSense income and it doesn't materialize, then NO, it isn't more fun! In fact, #@*%$#@^%$#$#@ sometimes.

I figure I've saved roughly 2.4 years by coming to this forum and listening to what others have had to say about adsense rather than trying it on my own and going through months of testing to see whether it worked or not.

I'm not a webmasterworld cheerleader.

I'm not a cheerleader for anybody except wyweb and that may sound harsh and self-centered but so be it.

In here I can find out ahead of time what works for other's (granted - it doesn't always work for everyone but I go with the consensus and have yet to regret it).

I can find out what people have tried with relation to adsense and get their reports on it (color schemes come to mind, to name just one). If it worked for them I'm certainly willing to try it on my sites to see if it works for me as well.

Some major players post in here. I like the fact that I can learn from their experience.... I'm not a big player but this arena allows me to interact with the big players.... How do you put a price tag on that?

I could make numerous comparisons to this and the "real" job market/world. I talk too much though.

Suffice it to say I'm pretty pleased with my unemployed status.

I don't have any fun working my 9-5 job. It's just waste of my time, but I still have to do it to survive. I work for a minimum wage the money that I earn can pay for basics only. I am sick of this life and want some progress.

I believe Adsense has a great potential, but I need to find a reasonably priced (or preferably "free") way of advertising my website in order to bring millions of visitors to my websites and make some decent profit.

Life is tough.

yup... I have GREAT ideas at 2:30 a.m. but no longer get up and run to the office.

These days I keep pad and pen on the bedside stand and when these ideas hit I write them down...

The only 'REAL' work that's more fun than AdSense is shooting nude models and selling the fine art prints. Sadly, I've been too lazy to shoot nudes for a couple of years now, AdSense is making me lazy and complacent.

To make the "real" money with Adsense, you've got to have desire and motivation. The desire to sit on your gluteus maximus all day and night and the motivation to make it happen.

As for the OP: AdSense is my "day job", and I rather like it; I've noticed that, if I don't work for a day (or two months), I still get paid...

Thanks so much for all these interesting and funny replies.
My daytime job involves sitting behind a desk, writing yes if the boss says yes, writing no if the boss says no, writing indepth reports for months and then throwing it all away if the boss says so, if needed, putting the building a bit to the left if the @#$%^&! boss desires so.
So that explaines my question...

think if those reports are not useful to your boss, and if they can ( if published openly without objection ) - on new with adsense.

i am sure you must be having expertise in writing indepth reports , ur chances of wining are enhanced if you have that skill in you.

living on adsense has more freedom, but it is or can be a hard job! I think a day job is a lot simpeler than running your own website business...

Adsense is more fun in that I've done nothing in 6 months and I'm still getting the same pay cheque from Google as I did back then - I don't think my employer would have the same view! ;)

I like my job though - you don't get the same banter and social life with your colleagues when working for yourself.

I started a hosting company back in 2001, building sites, updating them on a yearly fee etc, started adsense seriousley march 05 (been in it since it started) really worked on ad placement etc, now I just write out invoices and wait, adsense has given me more time to get out on the motorbike and enjoy the family.

I try not (yes) to build new sites for customers now as its tedious and time consuming, I have more than enough revenue coming in from hosting and adsense, if adsense vanishes it would be sad but still OK

Much more fun for me as this is what I do for a living. Adsense accounts for 65% of my income and it offers plenty of flexibility...I only check my stats 4-6 times a day or less...:)

I was actually laid off from my job and Adsense revenues on my site started kicking in. I make more money now than working before full-time.

However, you don't get to meet as many people and socialize while creating websites than with an office job.
