Regards to all WebmasterWorld members.

I am planing a new <snip> fan club, etc.
I cannot lie. Main idea of that site is to generate profit with Internet Revenue programs (AdSense).

So, I need some help before I start... I need to know should I even start?

I wonder if someone who owns a <snip> site and runs AdSense on it can tell me how is it performing. I do not need exact numbers, I just need to know is it worth building it.

In advace, Thank you very much!

Regards!

Welcome to WebMasterWorld... :)

I started a Fitness Site recently. Sports is definately worth an effect if you have good knowledge of it and you can write well on various sports.

If you can write good stuff, money will not be a problem.
Just remember: Go by the rules, and never overstep the google TOS.

Before you start, read this forum in detail for atleast a week or so. Spend good time understanding the talks here ( recent and past also ). Also, go through other sections of this forum.

Best of Luck..

For every idea there is a major player that has thought of it in place. Football site? I think there are just one or two already - are there not?

Even if this is done out of interest (and I don't bet it is), it will be difficult if not nearly impossible to make it work.

(read my other posts for the reasons why)

I run a sports trivia website, and while it may not perform the best, I would definitely say it is worth it, as it more than covers the costs of running the site. One tip I would give you is to make sure your pages are optimized for whatever keyword is the topic of the page, because in my experiences when the ads are not relevant, you will get very little to no revenue. On the other hand, after optimization, you can see some nice revenues, as I am beginning to see now.

I run a football site, though a different type of football than what I think you're referring to, which I'm guessing is "soccer". I have to say I'm not happy with the average CPC and CPM rates I'm seeing. Rates for soccer-related keywords would be higher, since there would be a larger pool of advertisers.

One thing I would suggest is that you make pages which mix up your keywords to hit all sub-niches in the market - not just "football", but the names of teams, names of grounds, locations of grounds (to get accomodation ads), locations of nearby watering holes for each ground, TV screening times, memorabilia and trading cards, sporting equipment, sports drinks, official merchandise... the possibilities are legion.
