Sudden Jump In EPC Today Wednesday

Just me?

After yesterday's disaster my EPC is up 60% so far this morning!

If it were to remain like this for the rest of the day I should recoup Tuesday's losses with a little bit of luck, however experience with Adsense has taught me otherwise.

Hi there,

Today has started out very positively for me thus far but I am not going to get my hopes up just yet. Hopefully things will continue as they have been so far today.

The increase in eCPM may also, for me, be contributed by the removal of non performing pages with very low CTRs.

I also had a very weak day yesterday and then when I checked today at 7.30 AM I had 3 times the normal amount - about 30% of yesterday's total.

Verrrry strange..

My experience is that these things tend to "even out" as the day progresses. Yesterday started off weak, but ended up being very slightly above average. Today started off strong, but will also (hopefully) end up being an average day.

A couple of hours ago I was complaining in another thread that this is turning out to be a bleak day for me. But now I am seeing good rebounds in my stats. I think there was just a delay in my stat updates earlier. I certainly hope that the good trend continues...forever. :)

Strange, I had a sudden hike in revenue yesterday, and today it is back to normal.

Maybe I collected some of your earnings by mistake! :-]

I am new at this Adsense game. Started end of June. Had what I considered great success. Tuesday was terrible compared to the previous week, today isn't being much better. Seems like these roller coaster rides are normal. If so how do you test your ads effectively?

Collect data for a week, or, even better, a month.

First of all welcome to WebmasterWorld dgharris!

It takes some weeks before the AdSense algorithm has figured out which ads are the best for your pages. Also some pages may show PSA's and not ad blocks may be filled in this period. Generally after one month when the Mediabot has visited all your pages a few times the situation should get more stable, although real stability will never be achieved.

CPM constant (slightly increasing) for me to Sunday July 17. Then -30% drop on 18th, 19th.
Today it seems to return to normal.

My CPM this month is also 40% higher than it was the last month. :)

Thanks for the welcome. I have had no PSAs, and up until this week great CTR. I guess I'll just ride it out and see what happens. A month seems like long time to wait to fiddle with ads.

I knew it was too good to be true...flat as a pancake again with lower than the month's average EPC, ah well, it was exciting for a few hours with the possibility that I may be clawing some of the lost earnings back.

It really does not seem to matter how many visitors I have, pages and ads served and click thrus made, Google has decided that there is a maximum amount it will allow me to earn and that's it...oh for the good old days of March and April.

So this weekend I'm going to carry out what I started last month and remove another 4,000 ad units and replace them with trade submitted advertisements.

That will leave me with some 8,000+ ad units therefore it is a substantial reduction.

I doubt that it will make them quake in their boots however it will be interesting to see what effect it has on my eCPM.

It's 6:20 pm Eastern time (U.S.) and I just had a click mini-dump. No other way to explain the sudden jump in clicks. Perhaps that's what happened to the rest of you, but you didn't check often enough to notice it happening all at once.

Gee...!

After analysing most of the rest of today's EPC revenues I have immediately begun a cull of Adsense on our sites and removed more than double the ad units I originally planned.

Adsense has been informed of my actions...I doubt I shall receive a human response.
