How to increase EPC?

Are there anything that you can do in the pages to increase your EPC?

Are there anything that you can do in the pages to increase your EPC?

Are the EPC higher or lower depending on the ad unit?

Does the Ad unit matter about the EPC?

Please help.

Less = more.
In other words, if you are displying 3 ad units, take out the two that perform the least.

That is true. It sounds too easy, but it works. I used to have 3 ad blocks on every page, took it down to one 250x250 ad block and saw my earnings triple for those pages.

I find the large rectangle performs better for me, than the 250 by 250 square.

CTR for this unit is consistently 20 percent better than the square.

Wow, I would never think that would matter, but it's interesting. You guys said that they imrpove your earnings per page. Do they also improve your overall earnings?

so you are saying that one ad unit per page works the best?

Thank you.

Has anyone switched from the large 336x280 rectangle to the medium 300x250 rectangle since 300x250 will show image ads, and seen an improvement in EPC/eCPM?

I am afraid of the pics, prefer texts, since I understand that less people are clicking on the pics.

I know you asked this about image ads, but I wanted to chime in that when I tested 336X280 vs. 300X250 text ads, the latter won. I got higher CTR and EPC. It wasn't a huge difference, but enough that when I made the change on hundreds of pages, I increased my earnings by about $10/day.

Test, test, test! Can't be said enough. Find out what combination works best for YOUR particular site(s).

The reason that the "less is more" thing works is because of the fee structure of the AdWords account. Advertisers bid more to be placed higher for certian terms.

This means that if the person that visits your site clicks the top ad on the top AdSense block, then you will get paid more than if they click the bottom ad of the bottom block. The advertiser has bidded higher to be placed in a more prominent position. Actually, you'll get paid more than the bottom ad of the same block as well.

At least, that's how it works with the search results, so I asssume that it is the same with content AdSense.

That makes lots of sense

All of the above suggestions are good ideas. You might also want to use custom channels to track the performance of different ad formats, colors and placements throughout your site. In this way, you can learn which ads your users are most likely to click, and apply this knowledge throughout your site.

For more information about creating custom channels (not to be confused with ‘URL channels’, which are also covered), I recommend the following entry on the AdSense support page:

[google.com ]

Of course, another AdSense resource that’s always helpful is the ‘Optimization Tips’ page, which you may have seen already:

[google.com ]

This page shares best practices that we’ve noticed can improve earnings.

Best of luck,
