Tried to improve Ads CTR

I took the steps to move ads above the fold, add ads to all pages. The ads are next to unique content filled pages.

The CTR is only 1-2% on average daily impressions of 500. This is terrible imo. How else can I improve this?

It's not terrible at all. My average CTR is similar, though my traffic is much higher.

Your CTR can be anywhere from 0.1% to 10%, depending on the nature of your site. 1-2% isn't out of line for a "normal" site.

You're right, work on your traffic.

Get 20K-40K impressions a day and that 2% CTR will pay off well.

With the limited information you've given we cannot give sensible advise other than: read Google's guidelines and use channels to analyze.

I strongly suggest that you use channels to analyze your stats. That 2% CTR could conceal a wide range of CTR. My site has some channels that average several times that, and others that I no longer have AdSense code on that did worse.

And yes, get more traffic.
