Well, at least your ads are averaging 25¢ a piece!

Imagine if you were getting 5¢/click -- then you'd really have cause for celebration!

Why don't you try putting the ads inside your content table instead of outside? Or try a different format?

If you widened your table you could stick in the leaderboard format at the top. It may be worth trying.

FWIW - the adsense ads on the site in your profile don't work at all with 800x600 resolution.

on my most visited site, 46% of the visitors use that monitor setting.

I would do as recommended. Using 1024X768 the ads are to the far right with more than an inch of space between them and your content

If I minimize the window it appears on top of some of the content.

leaderboard appears the best choice for the site.

BTW, very nice logo/headboard and tope menu.

Ya, I noticed that also... I had posted last night about trying to have a resolution detection and at 800x600 to have the ads at the bottom of the page. Not sure if anyone has read that post. The only concern with that is having cross browser compatiblity. It might actually show two ads by google. I don't think that I can widen the table anymore, in 800x600 as the table would go to the right, and then users would have to scroll. Still thinking about the best way to handle this. Does anyone have any thoughts?

Put the leaderboard at the top. The difference in CTR is amazing--don't want to get in trouble saying too much, but mine are the highest I've ever heard of. I know it's painful when you have a beautifully-designed site (and you do).

macrost, I'm seeing the top menu, then a skyscraper on the left, with white space to its right - and then your Welcome etc, below the skyscraper and the page fold...

I can believe having the ads at the top of the page would be most effective, but I just can't bring myself to do it - how can it be right for the most prominent statement on every page to be "look at these other sites"? But then I've been running for ten years totally non-commercially.

I'm seeing the same as danny. (I'm using Mozilla 1.3)

Everyone thanks for the compliments! danny and adamas, I'm not sure when you say, you see the skyscraper to the left? Let me load a version of moz and see if I can replicate it. Locally I have had the ads as a leaderboard, but man, it's just so hard to do that.... I'll have to test it out today methinks.
To the mod or admin that edited my meta description and title, it more describes what I was wanting to talk about w/o that much sarcasm. Thanks!

Whoa! Ok, seems like it's time to go to leaderboard. Thanks for letting me know about moz.

AdSense won't be a moneymaker for every site. Ideally, you should have:

1) Fairly significant traffic.

2) A good percentage of new visitors (not the same visitors over and over again).

3) A topic that attracts readers who are researching ways to spend money (and who have money to spend).

Of course, different publishers have different goals, and a very small publisher may be happy if AdSense produces more revenue than existing affiliate links or banner ads. (For example, I'd love being able to defray the expenses of my not-for-profit writing site with AdSense ads--but I won't be able to do that until there's a way to filter out ads for vanity presses!)

europeforvisitors,
I understand what you mean. I'm still trying to build up my traffic, and getting new users to the site. I have been having a bear of a time, but thanks to ww, i'm not just a code monkey anymore. I belive I'm going in the right direction, I just need to have some kind of revenue, and adsense has shown me that I do have the possiblity to make revenue from my site. It has given me the encouragement to keep after it, as I might see 2 clicks every other day, but i know in the future I can get that to maybe 20 or even 200 clicks every other day.
