If it's not, please let us know. What's life like in India?

hahaha....

why would you wanna know that?

if you have lots of money, life is good anywhere (but I will stick with Canada) *lol*

PS: Adsense income is taxable in Canada, unless you don't report it. It's probably taxable in India too - most (if not all) governments are hungry for money.

you should have to pay the income tax, but an auditor told me that we no need to pay the service tax ( adsense is advertisement revenue )if we receive it in US $, but if you receive the payment in indian rupees, you should have to pay the service tax 10% .

the income is not service taxable as the service is provided to "Google Inc, CA, USA" and your payment also arrives from them or thier arrangement outside of Indian Teritory.

read this recent related thread which might help you. [webmasterworld.com...]

Hi,

Even I am worried about this issue as my income is on a rise.. when I asked the ICICIbank girl she told me that in Indian Rupees if you get a cheque of over 1 Lach rupee their system gives them an indication and you are trapped...I am still not very clear with it so am going to ask some finance guy about it.

Thanks,
Bye

if receiving check in INR is a problem I think I can shift to USD.
USD checks takes time to clear but its worth than paying 30% of the money to Govt. who is doing no good to Software service providers in India.

between I have a strage exp. in dealing with USD checks.
Govt.Banks in smaller cities takes less time to clear than Govt. Banks in big cities.Which is against popular opinin.

What's life like in India?

Well, for the 3 weeks I was there on business it wasn't too bad when they could keep the electricity on [sometimes lost it 30 times a day] and when I could stay out of the bathroom after I caught an intestinal bug. If it wasn't for my computer being a laptop I'd have never gotten anything done.

However, everything was CHEAP, you can live like royalty on a lot less than I make a month.

I had a driver and an air conditioned cab for $25/day for the entire stay :)
