If one wrote copy for their Adsense pages and it was absolutely disgraceful, totally rubbish ... and there are some out there. Would the visitor escape by clicking his/her way out, thus boosting the CTR?
Let me tell you how and why this entered my head. I came across a site that was clearly cobbled together and thrown up just for Adsense. The author may use English below his/her second language and the spell and grammar checker was out for the day.
There's nothing saying that he wasn't earning any money, none from me because I didn't want to sponsor the cause, but his CTR could be higher than that from good quality copy that retains the reader and prevents him from clicking an ad because the copy was so interesting.
Well written content on a page can gemerate a high CTR of really valid clicks.
You don't need to write 1,000 words to create enough desire on the part of the visitor that they click an ad because of a genuine interest in what the advertizer is offering.
For good copy, put it at the bottom.
So, if they opt not to continue reading, the ads are within clickable reach.
If they opt to read the whole thing, the ads are again within reach.
For short copy--good or bad--put AdSense on the side--again, within reach...
