Why do Image ads = public service ads?

Hey guys,
I added a few image ads to my site last night, and the problem is, they show up as public service ads. Is this because adsense is taking awhile to figure out what ads to put in there? Or maybe they just dont have image ads for me? I thought maybe a few hours would be enough, but its been overnight. Does anyone know if this is normal?

did you turn off text ads and just leave image ads on?

If so, it could be that there just aren't many image ads to serve in your niche and/or ad format. If you've left text ads on as well and you are getting PSA's then it aounds more like you have a targetting problem.

yeah, they are strictly image ads.

Better to allow for both. Image-only is going to hurt your earnings, in many cases.

switch text ads back on - you're probably losing money.
