I was always waundering about these things I seen alot of people making alot of money from them. About how much money you make in a month or a year from these ads? I am thinking about signing up, but I have never done anything like this kinda stuff because of the reporting it to the IRS and having to pay taxes on it. Because last year was my first time paying taxes and my dad did it for me. I don't know how different it would be doing this. I know I can write off my laptop which I use to manage/edit the site my ISP for because I have to use it to edit the site my hosting and what not. My site is a gaming site for a Ps2 game I get about 125k visits a day about 1,000 unique people a day. How much you think I would make if i did start it up?

Thx for any information.

I get about 125k visits a day about 1,000 unique people a day

This is confusing. 125.000 or 1.000?

Let's assume 1000. 5 page views per visitors and $2 CPM makes $10 a day.

But consider, based on the confusing input and the wide range of possible performance, I could be total wrong.

12500 page views and from 1000 unique?

THat is very strange for me. How long does your visitor stay at your site? It doesnt make sense to me. Anyways, from 1k unique and gaming field, i guess you can have an average of 10-20 per day.

With that many page views per visitor, is your site a forum?

I don't have a cpanel or anything just analog stats which suck. About 3 months ago on my old host people usually stayed each time they visted for about 30mins-1hour was were most were at.

If anyone knows a better stat catcher that I can install personally I would be happy to use it because I don't know how accurate this one is. I think these page views also count the forum I have is probably why page views per user is so high.

Its not just a forum....The main part of the site is the actual site itself, but I have a forum with about 600members and most don't even post actually hardly any of them do heh. Forum says i get on average of 63 posts a day, but i guess thats alright i dunno.

All the main information they find is on the site.

I have signed up for adsense before and never activated because I seen it required tax info and I never done that stuff before. So I know I will get approved.

Change Your host

Withoug all the log files to download
for own evaluation, You are lost.

I have now about 60 GB log files.

When I have a new idea how to evaluate a certain trend, I could check it in all my log files from 1997 to 2005

Well for the price and the host reliablity this is the only host I can use. I use about 200gb transfer a month on my site. and I can get that for $20 a month cheapest I could find and its a very reliable host.

You state 30.000 visitors
You state 200 GB
makes 6,66 MB per visitor.

My average, no downloads, large pictures is 300 kB per visitor.

Do You have big downloads?

I think Your numbers do not match together.

Are you maybe talking 125,000 hits - because presumably not all of those unique visitors are spending so longf on your site visiting multiple pages. Which means some people must spend their lives on your site.

Without accurate data nobody can give a guestimate. And that's all it would be anyway.

What I don't understand is why are you asking how much you will make when it is just as easy to sign up for adsense and give it a spin in the real world? Surely the fear of having to pay taxes on profits is not a genuine deterrent?

In a German AdSense forum was just a case from the webmaster of a games site.

He really bleived to have 4 million visitors a month.

I told him, that according to the Alexa data of his web site, I think it's more 5.000 to 25.000 visitors a month.

After this, he wrote about 10.000 users a month.

The discussion started after he wrote do have been disabled from AdSense.

He wrote to have several hundred $ after 2 weeks until he was disabled.

I thought maybe artificial activities in the statistic, which made him belive to have 4 million visitors.

Same symptoms here. Numbers which absolut not match together.

I would not risk to try AdSense on this hosting, because it could happen the same like to the owner of this German game site.

Radejr,
*********************
I get about 125k visits a day about 1,000 unique people a day
*********************

You may be right , 125K is possible but it is not at all only .htm or .asp pages, the over all total 125K will surely include .gif and .jpg files , thatswhy you are getting that total.

Upto my expereince 1:10 is the maximum.
That is your page views schould be only maximum 10000 per day.

find your .htm or .html or .asp ... files data in your web stats and divide it with 30 or 31 days.

good luck

The only way to know how much you will make is too just sign up and give it a try. If you really don't want to make too much money you can always remove the ads.

I get about 1,000 unique people a day I didn't say It would be 30,000 unique people a month. Typically its around 8-9,000 unique people a month. Yes people do spend their lives on my site and I have been told so several times.

that is very strange and almost hard to believe. if you print 125,000 pages per day with just 1,000 unique visits , that means each person would have to views 125 pages and we all know that is impossible.. that means you have visitors that view several hundred pages.. which is almost impossible as well.

my site prints about 100,000 pages per day, but i get around 6,000-7,000 unique visits

obviously this guy doesn't know what he's talking about with traffic. Can we just drop this and get back to people making a living off adsense.

"I get about 1,000 unique people a day I didn't say It would be 30,000 unique people a month."

1,000 unique people a day suggests 30,000 unique people a month. Otherwise why say 1,000 unique people a day?

Sorry, your figures just don't add up. This thread is wasting people's time.

Hi there,
Maybe this helps a bit, I always calculate with an average of USD 0.02 per unique visit per month. Of course this will strongly fluctuate depending on the site content, but on average this works out pretty okay for me.
John.

Hey Tony:

Geez - impressive stats. Do you use AdWords to drive in traffic, or...?

We were making a living off AdSense 'til the Bourbon update. Live and learn, we didn't diversify fast enough.

It sounds like you run a community site around a particular game. If your site is a resource with alot of repeat visitors I wouldn't think it'd have alot of people looking to click on ads.

I don't make enough from AdSense to live off of (and I'm one of the fortunate few with a job I love), but the supplemental income is a very nice boost. It's paid my rent the past few months, and I'm alright with that.

I'd be worried if I relied on it as my sole source of income, due to the horror stories of those who've been kicked out, not to mention things like finding health insurance, etc. on your own and the costs therein. But obviously some people on here have taken the plunge and are doing great with them. I commend them for both their success and for having the courage to go "all in" with it.

1000 uniques a day does not mean 30,000 uniques a month. If the same visitors are coming back daily, you can't count them multiple times as monthly uniques.

1000 uniques a day, 125,000 page views. Seems that your stats program is counting images(etc.) as impressions. Visitors to image laden pages will give you inflated numbers. Say, an image gallery with 50 thumbnails per page could produce the inaccurate stats you are talking about, for example. They'd really only be visiting 2.5 pages each. Pages with actual games that cause your pages to reload as folks are playing can also give you inflated numbers like the ones you mentioned.

Gaming sites, in my experience, will give you a CTR of less than 1% and an EPC under 10 cents. So, for 1000 visitors... don't quit your day job just yet or worry about having to pay much, if anything, in taxes... after you deduct expenses.

I "work for" Google full time. My idea of diversifying is offering more pages for Google to work their magic on. I can't think of a better company to "work for". Sure, I worry about "getting fired"(account disabled), but not any more than I would with any other job. I cross my t's and dot my i's... and hope Google appreciates my work as much as I appreciate them.

P.S. I read the thread about discussing CTRs. Note that the numbers I mentioned are estimates and do not reflect what I'm actually making. They are ways around the low numbers, but that's a whole other thread.

Since people are sharing their data...

Yesterday's stats

5300 unique's, 38,979 ad impressions. Roughly 70,000 pages served (the counters a bit off for a variety of reasons).

...I just want to add that after Wed/Thur update, we may in fact be making a living from Google again after all. Stats are revenue are climbing back up. This is assuming we live carefully, cut expenses, and they don't knock all our URL's out of their engine again next time!

We were making a great living off it, until May 21. But of course, we'll be starting new projects, working to make our way again.

Everyone says it, but let me reiterate it anyway. DON'T depend on any one thing for all your income... whether its a salary or AdSense.

AdSense isn't just a living, it's a way of life, a religion and a desert topping!

I installed a shrine in my spare bedroom to facilitate the positive vibes of the worshipping a Google Mug on a pedestal, and there's incense and a little gong next to it. We chant our mantra sitting on a wicker mat in a yoga position for one hour every day!

Chant with me now:
"AAAAH PAAH TUM EEEE ZAAAY SHUN ooommmm AAAAH PAAH TUM EEEE ZAAAAY SHUN ooommmm"

WHOA! I've reached enlightenment now, I'm seeing a vision, a vision of Ben Franklin and he's trying to tell me something, he's faintly whispering, I can barely make it out, he's saying I can achieve 2 US Mint editions of his portait daily if I believe and YES! I BELIEVE!

Whew! That was some awesome shrooms!

OK, back to work.
