Attack of the "useless site" ads...

Anyone else getting tons of useless "info on widgets"-type site ads? I've suddenly been inundated with all sorts of different ones, and the worst part is there's absolutely NOTHING on the subject in question on any of those sites. And I don't mean the standard shopping-comparison sites, these are all scraper-style sites with nothing to offer.

Additionally, targeting seems to be slipping again... it was great a month ago, but for the past week has been steadily going downhill. Which is ironic, since AdLinks has the topic nailed perfectly.

It's funny you should say that. People here talk about loss of traffic or drops in CPC as reasons for dramatic drops in revenue. These are reasonably consistent for me.

Every now and again my revenue drops off big time just because people stop clicking. It's got to be targeting. I just leave things alone and it recovers by itself after a week or two.

I wonder if that's why adlinks didn't work for me. I tried them when my targeting was good. Maybe I'll try them again next time it drops off.

I have found that Adlinks are almost always dead on target, even when the regular ads on a page are completely off target. You would think if they can get the Adlinks right they should be able to get it all right.

Yeah, adlinks are usually dead on. Ad blocks are like shotgun scatter. Sometimes they hit, sometimes they don't

Pardon me but what is dead on target or dead on?

Do you mean they target good ads around? And regular adsense units dont target that good?

I've also noticed that adlinks are well targeted. I've also noticed that the targeting of the adblocks has seriously deteriorated in the last few months to the point where they're only slightly related to the content of the page they are on. It didn't used to be this way. It is almost to the point of giving up on it and removing all but the adlink unit. :(

Dead on target = exactly right

Hope that helps! :)
