How MUCH do you earn? AGAIN

As the old "How much do you earn?" thread has died out and has went out of proportion becoming too long, here is a fresh thread after some time has passed since G allowed us to disclose our gross revenue. Not that there is anything "gross" about my own revenue, but thought to share it to give a sense of relief and hope to the new comers or low earners like myself that they are not alone, having seen all the BIG numbers all over this forum in the past.

I also remember the other 2 threads started by rfung the first making $20/day aiming for $100/day and the second aiming for $300/day and still saying he is among the low earners and is no place to play with the BIG guys. If rfung with such a revenue is among the small or mini publishers, then sure I belong to the micro group. Just thougt to start a hope thread for those still like myself in the micro-club.

My Earnings
Sep 2004 $0.31
Oct 2004 $0.54
Nov 2004 $1.12
Dec 2004 $0.69
Jan 2004 $2.75
Feb 2005 $3.33
Mar 2005 $6.27
Apr 2005 $38.41
May 2005 $65.63

This means I was able to reach $2 a day last month. Now I aim at reaching $5 a day in 3 months time. Yes a modest goal, but to me it is a big one ;)

So who's interested in showing his/her earnings for a refresher on the topic.

[A hope the topic does not divert away from its original aim: sharing with others stats about your revenue.]

If, after a few months, you're not making several hundred per day (net) you're doing it wrong. Or, at least, not doing it as well as it can be done. Stray outside the Adsense forum and you'll find enough info on WW alone to take you to that level. Take a step back, review your operations.

Well, I think this really depends on the type of site you have, the size of the market/user base, the competitiveness of the ad space, etc. I really think your statement comes across as a bit overly simplistic if not arrogant. In my case, although I admit I haven't done all I could to boost CTR, my site is a niche community site, and the recurring userbase is actually a smaller percentage of clicks as compared to traffic driven in by search engines and other referal traffic.

Fair enough. Think small, stay small.

Who said you're restricted to only your site? Or only the content you can come up with yourself? Or only the sector you're already in?

If you want to make big bucks... you'll need to find ways to expand and you'll need to do it outside your "niche" if you've already saturated that.

Making $90-$110 a day after 15 months or so and several sites. I probably have about 2500 pages running AdSense.

It's gonna drop this month, though. Google just emailed me telling me they were dropping one of my sites. It's about BB guns, which people buy for their kids (for crying out loud). It was making over $400/month from AdSense, but now it'll be making zilch (other than affiliate sales). Oh well.

Averaging about $5 a day, more would be nice.

How many impressions are people getting per day? ( is this allowed to be shared? )

Swebbie,

They are dropping your site because it pertains to BB guns or for other reasons?

Oh, and: You'll shoot your eye out!

oddsod,

Although I tend to like your posts in general...you did come off a little arrogant with both of your earlier posts in this thread. The thread is about current earnings not plans for world domination (as I am sure we are all planning). I am sure most are planning bigger and better things and I am sure most (who have a handful of posts on WebmasterWorld) have heard the "think big" and "diversify" mantras. If not, they will soon enough. :)

Take care mate.

Hey, no offence meant to anyone. I was offering roadhazard a tip. My posts were meant as encouragement rather than chiding and was in response to the poster "wanting to earn a living from Adsense". I was quoted out of context in message 31. If you've saturated your niche and want to earn substantially more - enough to live on - then you have to look at other opportunities.

Of course it doesn't apply to everyone. Many are content with what they're earning on hobby sites and have no intention of making UPS or living solely off of Adsense. And, there's nothing wrong with that.

Because it pertains to BB guns. I understand that Google is a private co. and can make their own decisions about what to allow or not, but this is silly. They allow all kinds of BB gun AdWords advertisers, so what in the world is the problem with having them show those ads on sites about BB guns? LOL How idiotic!

But, life goes on. It's one more reason I'm always preaching in this forum that you must diversify. Imagine if that had been my only site? It would have devastated my business. Fortunately, it's one of several, so it hurt, but it didn't kill me. And now I'm mad, so I'm motivated to build more sites and add more good content than ever. I'll just make sure it's about subjects Google allows. :-)

Huh? Private? Then what is that unbelievable $290/share stock I see being publicly traded/owned?

Oh, and not to diverge too much from the orginal topic, Google stopped putting ads on my main home page because I had an excerpt from a news article about some reptiles that were stolen (my site is a reptile community site). They said that the topic of stealing is not allowed.

I understand that it would be bad to have a site that is telling people how to steal, but it seems silly that a reference to a news article about reptiles BEING stolen should be perfectly legit. I was just annoyed with the email I got in response saying that the content is not family-oriented enough, on a site about PET REPTILES. Sheesh. So I removed reference to that news article, but it was pretty darn stupid, if you ask me.

I meant that Google is private in the sense that they have total discretion to make their own rules about content, even if they're strange.

Your reptile example is a good one. My biggest issue is that they accept AdWords advertisers in this industry, so why on Earth would they ban sites that would be a perfect match to show those advertisers' ads? Just monumentally stupid.

To bring this back around to close to the topic, I'm actually earning (ironically) more so far today than I usually average by this time. So I'm not too concerned about the banning of that one site.

They said that the topic of stealing is not allowed.

If that is actually true, they do not deserve to be in business. Guess what makes headlines every day? Stealing, robbery, theft, crime.

These people are a menace. Since I've already been scroggled more than I ever wanted to be, I hope they ban my site. The income has become a joke. After months of hard work, I am back at AS income levels of five months ago, before I added many pages.

Sorry, my posts just seem to infuriate the Google loyalists, so I'll cut out. Tired of scrounging for the pitiful crumbs Google tosses in our paths.

Adios, compadres. Viya con Dios!

the agreement we all have with Google basically means none of us should be thinking of "making a living" solely on AdSense... especially reading talk of "buying a condo" - unless you save and pay for it in CASH - or that was all tongue in cheek = no bank in their right mind would loan money based on Google AdSense income - knowing what the agreement is...

it's great that we are getting a chance to earn decent cash... though as soon as AdSense hit more than 20% of my total income i started thinking about "what happens when it's gone" = i _should_ be living the lifestyle i can while keeping in mind that AdSense just might take a turn...

for those of us earning over $100 / day it's SOOOO easy to get used to thinking / wishing "when i hit $200-$500 / day i'll quit my job..." but fearlessrick has a sobering reminder that it _can_ dissappear...

ADSENSE:
save it up - invest it - spend it... ENJOY it - but i sure wouldn't RELY on it...

April: $26.62
May: $38.31

Showing signs of improvement, only about 200 uniques a day, and in a low cost per click niche.

Very High CTR but low traffic....and none at all from google.

#1 on yahoo for its main term, buried for unknown reasons in google.

If I could get #1 or page 1 on google (which the site should rightfully deserve) I'm sure this would at least double.

My AdSense figures look a lot like the OP's.

Feb $3.50
Mar $8.42
Apr $26.02
May $72.60
Jun $10.52 so far.

I have learnt a lot here and on other forums about placement etc. now I just need some more traffic. (only have about 3k uniques per month)

Jan $6
Feb $30
Mar $40
Apr $55
May $185

The jump between April and May was due to a handful of seasonal pages I put up late in April. That money's about to go away, but it's given me an idea for a new set of seasonal pages with a longer peak. It's also convinced me that I CAN make AdSense work for me--if I get off my butt and put out new pages. Hard work, the key to success--who knew?

Jan $3.75
Feb $6.98
Mar $2.84
Apr $6.08
May $3.47
Jun $11.54 (as of June 25th)

I would be pleased with $100 a month.

<devils advocate=on>

Now take your monthly earnings - divide by the number of hours your work on your sites - you get an hourly rate.

I'm making over $260 per month with over 20 sites and domains, though only 2-3 sites generates majority of the money for me. I've noticed that sites with internet-smart visitors make $0.00.

Been stable for two years but now:

April 3573
May 3654
June 2570 (bourbon!)boooo
July crap so far!
EPC halved, traffic from google halved (thats most of it) click through rate 2/3rds what it was due to crappy search engine targeting, IE wrong traffic.

About 4000 page views per day (now 2400!)
