Does removing adsense from pages that bring a very low ecpm result in an overall boost in adsense revenue by raising your overall ecpm, and thus making your site more attractive to google, and thus raising the ecpm in the remaining pages? i run a content site with thousands of pages, with a wide range of performance on adsense throughout

Google has always advised putting ads on as many pages as possible. My guess is this advice is still sound.

Here is a recent thread on this that has some really good discussion of it:

My advice is the opposite, remove adsense from low performing pages... and double your income.

Also, I seem to be having some success having removed AdSense from my home page, perhaps enabling visitors to flow through the site to interior pages that have more defined content.

You can't discount the fact that on some pages the potential toll of spending some page real estate on advertising might be counterproductive to the overall goals of the site.

I am leaning towards thinking that better overall results are obtained be placing AdSense into circumstances where it serves as true content for the user, coexisting with other page content -- more towards destination pages.

Yes, first thing I did was remove Adsense from all my home pages.

For example, my home page says "what do you want to learn how to do today"? They choose a link, how to re-paint the exterior of your home. Visitors get to a page telling them exactly how to do it, okay they are done on my site, where to go now? How about an ad for paint store chain offering an online coupon. Good conversion.
