I logged into my adsense acct this morning and noticed a few changes including a different (and IMO, more streamlined) layout for the Ad Settings page, and an option for replacing PSA's with a color , an image, and also an option to have the space normally occupied by the ad units disappear or 'collapse' instead of showing PSA's.

This may not be new since I'm not one to obsess with everything Google Adsense, but I plan on using the collapsing replacement units, especially since many of my adsense ads are the 300X250 or 336X280 blocks surrounded by text and the text will simply flow in to occupy the space instead of the PSA's showing.

Anybody have thoughts or experiences with using these features?

I noticed the new layout page yesterday. Much easier to use, more choices, I like it. Channeling an entire page, instead of just individual ads, is new. I'm sure I'll end up using that feature.

If you are familar with the old layout and options then it may take a little getting used to but the changes are for the good.

That has been there for quite some time now.

Collapsing ad units was introduced last September [webmasterworld.com].

i have been using collapsing ad units for several months, and have no problems with it - they work very well.

you can also check your server logs for hits on the script, which will give you an indication of how many times there were no ads to display.

i havent spent the time to figure out how it is counted when you have more than one ad on a page, and there are no ads at all to display. is the collapsing script called only once or the $number_of_adblocks_without_ads

Where in the world is this option on the page?

I'm on the "Ad layout code" page and just don't see it anywhere....?

kwags... on the ad layout code page, scroll down to the Alternate ad URL or color section, and click on the learn more link.

you will discover that you have to download their small script and upload it to your server. then, you enter the url of the uploaded script to the "Alternate URL" section.

its quite easy to implement... its not really "advanced" at all.

Skip the "collapsing box", put in an alternative url with something else that will earn you money!
