Hi Guys,

Basically this is my first time using Adsense.....i thought i would first give it a try on one of my sports related blogs to familiarise myself with the way it works.

Problem is the Ads that are showing are completely about blogs? The content is nothning but sports related yet im getting ADs for blog software etc.

As its all new to me i would appreciate if someone could gimme a tip or two.

Thanks

Make sure you put all your keywords that you want Adsense to target on the web page, put it in H1 tag, title tag, Meta tags, bold, underline and make sure it appears in the first few words and at the end. Also try not to place off-topic words on the web page, this really can kiil your targeting.

Also be sure to check any id tags that may have been included in the default HTML template.

I remember in one template it had an id tag named id=privacy (as like an anchor or div tag title name) and even though my page was about widgets, it kept showing ads about privacy policies, privacy policy generators, etc until I changed the id tag to better reflect what was on the page (widgets).

And just give it a few days, I had blog ads on the mainpage of my blog for days while the other pages on the blog had relevant ads and after a few days all were relevant.

What breezeman said - if the adsense bot hasn't been by yet, they are judging what to serve purely by the URL, and they can see that 'blog' keyword loud and clear.
Give it a few days.

This happens on my forum too...Its most likely coz of higher keyword rating for the word - blog.
I sometimes like to replace copyright information at the bottom with an image [so that the word forum or blog is not read by google] and then link that image.
