Fewer and fewer quality ads, or ads in general, are displaying on the desktop version of my websites. The ads on mobile devices seem plentiful and overwhelming.

RPM. Is that the number I see that averages around 0.30?
Isn't it great that the government and Google and most other big corporations are run by crooks?
Execs at Google could lie through their teeth in testimony to congress and afterwards the whole bunch of them would go out for drinks and share laughs at how they're fooling the "little people." I don't know about anybody else, but I'm not fooled. I know they're stealing from me.
Really fed up with a lot of things, but congress and big tech are at the top of every list. </rant for today>

Hi everyone,
I’m looking for advice on blocking ad networks, categories, and interest-based (user-oriented) ads in AdSense.
Context
In the past, I blocked interest-based ads and results looked good.
Then I ran 3 months with no blocking and revenue was stable.
I ran an A/B test that suggested blocking interest-based ads would increase revenue, so I switched to blocking.
After switching, revenue became very volatile and is actually lower. When I tried to revert, my RPM (and CPC) stayed low. It’s been 4 days and performance is still terrible.
Questions
After enabling/disabling interest-based ads or changing blocks, how long does it usually take for things to stabilize in AdSense’s learning phase?
Has anyone seen consistent improvements from blocking specific ad networks or categories—especially those with very low CTR/RPM?
I’m seeing some networks with only a handful of clicks and much worse CTR/RPM compared to the average. Is blocking these a good idea, or does it backfire by reducing competition?
Thank you!

@Bobb11
In my own testing, spanning years and spreadsheets (oh Lawd, all those spreadsheets), I have never seen a benefit to blocking anything on Adsense ever IF you are out to make as much as you can.
Results have always shown less revenue for me and I always ended up back at the beginning - running with the Adsense defaults and their basic recommendations.
Modern day Adsense, too, makes it extremely hard to keep things stable year-over-year let alone month-over-month. My stability (or lack thereof) is such that I cant even really compare month-to-month anymore in 2025, so I end up taking it "one month at a time".
There's no winning formula anymore and those network swings are just part of the game these days.

@bobb11, Over the years I've tried blocking advertisers, networks, specific ads, etc. None of it helped, or it if did, the improvement lasted a few days and then things crashed. When I switched back, it usually took a few days to get back to "normal." Now I just let everything run and let the chips fall where they may.
