I see a jump in RPM in August from $6 RPM to $12 RPM.
I hope it stays this way for the rest of August....

Seems to prove that g is getting better at pinching pennies while cooking the coding goose. :)

Because the numbers have been so volatile for me since the CPM switch of early 2024, I've given up comparing year-over-year and even month-to-month data: I just take each month as its own beast and hope it's a good one.

I can assume at this point, however, that my strong July will be the peak earnings month for all of 2025.

My numbers, as a whole, have declined for years (SEO hits, content poachers, etc..) and A.I. has just made everything worse traffic-wise (which limits revenue). The current setup wont likely last too much longer - maybe a few more years(?) - if things keep going this route.

Either way, Adsense has given me a 'career' I never thought I would have.

@CommandDork, yeah. Sadly, it is over for me for the same reasons you mentioned. AdSense has provided me with a living for 13 years, and now, it's coming to an end. This was supposed to be my retirement "fun money" in 2 years, but I will probably have only a trickle of AdSense income coming in by that time, if any. Right now, I am making about 25% of what I was in my heyday. Anyway, this was a nice run and afforded me a lot of flexibility and fun. Time to look for a job.

Adsense is struggling because back in the day when a lot of us started, Google Adwords were about the only advertising game in town. Then more and more publishers appeared, creating too much supply. Then social media showed up, giving advertisers places to spend their money other than on Google. Then mobile became the norm, which has never performed as well as desktop, at least for me. Then personalized ads appeared. You know, the ones that have absolutely nothing to do with a site's content. Just one thing after another over the last 20 years. I don't think this is news to anyone, but laying it out makes it easy to see how each step contributed to the current situation.

"Then mobile became the norm, which has never performed as well as desktop, at least for me."

My data shows the same thing. My best years were under CPC and desktop - and now one's gone and the other is 50% of what it once was.

Coverage percentage is the biggest cause of revenue drop in my case. Years it would be around 99%, but start of 2025, it has steadily dropped to average around 60%.

ronron, your coverage percentage has dropped because fewer advertisers are using Google Ads. They've moved to Amazon, FB, TikTok, etc. And there are too many websites for the number of advertisers who do still use Google Ads.

Yeah, and can also explain a large drop in percent of impressions with personalized targeting (usually the highest RPM) from years past to now. Personalized targeting used to consistently be 90+% of total impressions, down to about 45-50% the past year.

Might be due to the fact that several browsers now come with personalized ads/tracking turned off?

And let's not forget the demise of our ability to customize ad colors and sizes, the end of text ads, the end of ad links, the end of the ad balancer, the end of epc, the relentless rise of ad blockers, etc.

In the beginning I used to make $1 a month with some websites I had on Adsense. Then I got lucky and something I thought would never work, worked like a charm and I made a boatload from Adsense. I was stumped when I realized I could make a living from it, and so I did.

It is now a decade later and I'm doing upgrades and larger amounts of maintenance on the websites for the last time. From here on out I plan on leaving the websites to fizzle away on their own. Adsense has trickled down to such low income that it is just not worth it anymore... Off the top of my head I can think of many other ways to make much better income than with Adsense.

I believe the hayday of Adsense has come to an end a while ago. When I browse the web, I now frown when I am bombarded with spammy Adsense ads on many websites. Adsense turned the Internet into a filthy spamfest :( ... Adsense ads used to have some flair and dignity, with well placed advertisements - carefully narated and neatly placed by webmasters on strategic locations. Now many, if not most Adsense websites wage a coordinate spam bombardment on it's users, ruining any dignity a web site may have had. Maybe it's just cynical old me...

When the Adsense going was good, the Adsense juice was most definitely worth the squeeze. Now, not so much... :/

RPM dropped considerably in 2025/8/9 and today too. From $12 to $4 RPM.

Agree end is near or nearing. They also in lawsuit for monopoly of ad network and will lose. As a precursoer to the industry, I run dozens of YT channels on top of websites and I recently was randomly accepted into the partner program for 6 doomant channels - they have almost no content/updates. AdSense is struggling in general and are accepting anyone now

Not to mention the rigorous ads placed in all YT videos, its sad and disgusting

AdSense For Websites: I do believe theres still some niche's for extremely targeted sites, I have 2 sites I'm still doing ok/well on. Wish I could talk to other publishers privately in a discord or something, but im still having some limited success

Adsense today will NOT get better. Might get worse. However, it still works and remains the "best" of the no contract ad services for publishers.

<satire>It can also be depended on to cause nightmares, upset tummies, thoughts of despair and confusion---just slip in some code and have fun!</satire>

MEANWHILE, ADSENSE STILL WORKS!

ASIDE: Now is the time one can actively take steps to build content and COMMUNITY (ie. REAL USERS WHO RETURN WEEK AFTER WEEK) by providing something tangible that is YOURS and not dependent upon g. Do NOT ignore value-added subscriptions, paywalls, etc. THESE PRODUCE INCOME not reliant on a fading ad economy---that for all its current faults DOES provide some payouts on a monthly basis.

I agree, tangor, it still works. Just not like it used to (but neither do I). I suppose if the good ole days didn't exist and I didn't have those to compare today to, then I might think Adsense is doing pretty well. Still pays the bills, but it's not buying me a new house like it once did.

Has anyone else received this dashboard message from the BIG G?

The number of ads you can show has been limited for one or more of your AdSense products. For more information, go to the Policy Center.

Ad serving on your product is currently limited because of invalid traffic concerns.

Hi guys!

We experienced very bad July, luckily in August RPM went up finally, BUT

From the end of February we still got issues with Coverage - there were some lucky weeks with Coverage>90%, but most days lower, downto 80%, and it happens totally for 6 months!
We had implemented new site, and from start it gained 99%, but after 2weeks again 80-90%

Do you have the same or its just our issues?

@azlinda - others have recently posted about invalid traffic concerns (but it is in the Supporters Forum) and G restored ads serving - without explanation - after a week or so.

For those who saw RPM to rise up in Aug. Also had seen their RPM rates to fall to the prior Aug levels after 12th.

Frankly I am not blaming Adsense now. G's traffic is off since the last couple of days. Western Traffic specifically main land EU traffic is really down.

AHEM (donning Perfectly Creased Tin-Foil Hat): Is the RISE of the BOTS all over the web affecting the electron streams to the extent there's ethereal vapors that interferes with traffic and g and oh, my! Meanwhile, the Sky Remains Blue. Pretty sure. Right?

ON THE OTHER HAND

There are real world reasons why things have fallen off

Economics---local and nation/state
Tariff uncertainty (getting resolved)
A Distraction by g (focus on THIS so you can't see us doing THAT!)
AI is having a bigger impact than predicted (collateral damage)
The Bean Counters At G are getting better at wealth extraction from the advertising stream.
The web keeps growing with krap sites at a breakneck pace (with accompanying levels of theft)
SEO has finally run its course, most of the magic beans have been rooted out and countered.
The more things change, the more they stay the same.

The next thing on the horizon could be a MINIMUM HUMAN TRAFFIC of 5,000 UNIQUE/DAY just to get on the bottom tier. Why? g can't keep a zillion penny accounts on the books forever. It's EXPENSIVE!

NOTE: Some of the above is a generalization and not totally specific to Adsense. Just part of the present web environment that we all live in.
