I was wondering if there is any benefit from using different ad formats that you put in your content.
I understand that the Multiplex ads look and behave quite different (recommendation ads).

But for:
- display ads
- in-feed ads
- in-article ads
I don't really see a difference why they should perform differently. Especially, since Google is anyway optimizing what kind of layout it will display.

What your thougts about this?

Cheers

I just keep it simple:

Content should look like content.

Ads should look like ads.

K.I.S.S.

Avoid errors or gaming the system.

ALWAYS remember your visitors! Good content and pleasant experience can lead to REPEAT visits!

Also keep in mind design aesthetics. If it looks confused, garish, over-the-top, ad heavy most users will just hit the back button with a bad taste in the mouth.

I've never seen any benefit between them, especially now that I let Adsense auto-optimize a lot. I think In-Feed and In-Article is more a relic of Adsense Past when blogs and articles ruled the Internet.

I just stick to the basic Display Ads version whenever I create a new ad block.
