This now appears under "Privacy and Messaging"

it's a sort of soft paywall where users get blocked from your site after X pageviews (configurable) unless they watch a video ad.

[support.google.com ]

Haven't tried yet but I suspect there will be a slight uptick in revenue and a massive boost in annoying your users. Google's MO in the last five years seems to be: "Yes, your revenue is getting worse but allow us to do X, Y and Z on your site and you can tread water and keep it the same."

I killed by experiment. Ran it across two sites and the benefit was pretty meager considering the takeover.

Are you guys changing the message text or just using what Google provides?

It looks that 2 out of 4 is the best position

Like most anything else Adsense, it seems the OfferWall route benefits you if you've got a lot of impressions to give. That's been my key find from March so far.

Strange. When i tried to change the frequency and click on 'Publish changes' an error appears:

"One or more of the user choices selected are invalid or missing information: Rewarded ad choice is missing a selected ad unit"

Has anyone experienced this type of error?

btw

On the right at the bottom under 'User choices' and 'Rewarded ad - on' appears with red letters

'Finish setting up this option to use it',

but there is nothing to complete there, since the time under 'Configure' is already set, and 'Rewarded ad - on' certainly cannot be changed.

The error occurred to me as well when trying to edit, I think it's a bug. Have you tried creating a new offer?

No. I tried with the already created one. I also think it's a bug.

I'm afraid to experiment because of the bug, with deleting the existing one and then creating a new one.

Maybe, because of a bug, I won't be able to create a new one at all.

Obviously, the bug in question prevents the editing of existing created 'messages', as well as the creation of new ones.

I tried today to create a new message for an existing page and then a message appeared, do you want to replace the existing one, because there is one for that website.
When yes is selected, then the same error appears, as I already described above.

So it is currently not possible to create a new offerwall message for any website.

I tried to create a new one but it gives the same problem as yours

The last time I successfully edited the configuration was March 24. I hope someone from the Adsense team reads these messages or listens to the error logs from the Adsense panel, so that they can fix the issue.

Sorry, this isn't the place to try to get a message to Google and the Charter [webmasterworld.com] actively discourages that effort.
Please, no posts to attract the attention of Google employees. If you have something you need to say to them, please contact them through their channels.

About a dozen years ago they had an employee who was a member, they stopped participating. I wonder why...

@not2easy

I know but...I remember that it was not just one member, but several of them. That's why I still have the feeling that maybe one of them is still following this forum :)

Ya, I was able to replicate this issue on my account as well. Cannot edit an existing OfferWall. Also canno create new OfferWall.

Ok, a work around for new OfferWalls I found was to save the OfferWall as a "Draft", Then you can activate it on the main screen.

Similarly, with an existing OfferWall, just Un-publish it on the main screen, make your changes >> save it as a draft, then Re-publish on the main screen.

I have to say, after coming back to OfferWall, it has helped to pad revenue for the month of March and now April. It doesn't seem to be turning away visitors and no one has directly complained about them. Now I don't know what it does to SERPs and the user experience but, if revenue is the bottom line, then it works as intended.

I received the very first complaint about 'forced video from a fundamentalist preacher which is insulting', with the remark 'don't you show enough ads as it is'.
I replied that Ads are controlled by Google company, that Server costs have to be paid and that 30 seconds of someone's time for free tools and information on the website is not much asking.

@Sissi

Why? 4 means that the offerwall pop-up will only appear on the 5th pv (when the visitor open 5th page of your website)

For me, 3 pv is more logical, which means that the offerwall will appear at 4 pv (when the visitor opens 4th page of your website) or even at 2 pv, if javascript Adblock detection is not used, which means that the offerwall message will appear at 3 pv, that is, when the visitor opens 3th page on your website.

If javascript Adblock detection is used, then it is more logical to use 3pv or 4pv, precisely because with 1pv a warning appears to turn off Adblock.
