November final earnings 12% lower than October. But it's no wonder because RPM is 10% and CPC is 8% lower than last month. I hope that December will be better.

Since introducing 'Side rail" ads, impression are up 8%. Page views remain same but impressions are up
Do you see separate reports for side rail ads? I can't see anything yet. Yesterday was a nice day though, not necesserily because of the new ads.

At half monthly earnings and they are a little more than halved from last year December. Increase in traffic. I desperately enabled rail ads to see how these perform even though ugly IMO.

Tried rail ads yesterday, they load over content when the page first loads until you scroll and my desktop % of earnings actually dropped, so they are not for me.

It looks like they're part of the "Display" ad format. You can filter for them in your reports, though: "Search or filter your data" > "Ad format" > "Side rail".
So far the Impression RPM for those side rail ads is not very strong, 1/10 of anchor ads. Much of the data looks inaccurate, though. For example, I see at least 10K ad impressions for side rail ads but zero pageviews. For anchor ads the number of impressions is 77x higher than the number of pageviews (resulting in four-figure Page RPMs).
No complaints about overall revenue, traffic pretty stable and Page RPM still very strong.

I have just filtered Side rail (thanks robzilla) and earning is dissapointed but since Side rail ads appearance yesterday in addition to the 8% impression increase, other statistics were also improved, and today CPC and RPM are even better than yesterday. Related or not but with side rail ads I've had two extremely good days.

Regarding side rails covering content until you scroll, do they have a standard width? Can anyone tell me how wide they are approximately. I can't see anything in my location.

Sticky 120×600 or 160×600 on both side. Funny is that on the one website i use sticky desktop ads since 2015. Adsense team gave me special permission to use it.

My side rail ads bring less than a dollar per day. Page RPM is extremely high while impression RPM is not impressive at all. I never took time to understand the difference, but this seems very different from other ad formats. I am keeping it for a while.

Yesterday side rail €4.60 (only a few percent of the total earnings) but impressions are up 17% along with CPC, RPM and page views. Not sure of it is in any way related to appearances of side rail ads but i'll keep it definively.

Side rails will probably need some time to ramp up, find its true value on the sites. Impressions-wise, so-far-so-good. Earnings, not so much.

I've disabled them, the impact they have on the look of the page is too large to justify the small earnings increase.

My side rail ads get very few impressions to make any noticeable difference in earnings. Maybe it needs time.

A little increase in RPM in the last few days, quite a relief compared to the horrible early days of December. Stats so far(December 16th, 2022):
18% down vs. November 2022 38% down vs. November 2021

Just throwing this out there...if ChatGPT kills the need for Google SERPs as many are predicting, then that is probably the end of Adsense, too, unless Google can figure out a way to monetize their own AI chat with something similar to the Adsense network.

Hhmmmm....I do not believe it but to make more funny here is answer from AI that also does not believe it :) :) :)
Question: Will ChatGPT kills the need for Google SERPs?
Answer: It is unlikely that ChatGPT, or any other AI language model, will kill the need for Google Search Engine Results Pages (SERPs). SERPs are the pages that display the search results when a user enters a query into the Google search engine. While ChatGPT and other AI language models have the ability to generate human-like text and respond to user queries, they are not currently able to replace the comprehensive and diverse range of information that is available through SERPs.
Google SERPs provide access to a wide range of information sources, including websites, news articles, images, videos, and more. This information is gathered from across the internet and organized in a way that allows users to easily find the information they are looking for. ChatGPT and other AI language models are not able to replicate this comprehensive approach to information gathering and organization.
In addition, ChatGPT and other AI language models are not able to browse the internet or access information from external sources. They are limited to the information that they have been trained on, which may not always be up-to-date or relevant to a user's specific query. In contrast, Google SERPs are able to provide users with access to the most current and relevant information from a wide range of sources.
Overall, while ChatGPT and other AI language models may be able to provide users with some information or assistance, they are not currently able to replace the comprehensive and diverse range of information that is available through Google SERPs..

ember, yes i can see that. as a user, i like it, but it makes me wonder about the future. i played with it for an hour or so, asking it many different questions and with the exception of one question, it answered them all correctly. of course sometimes you want a different experience, but most of the time, we just want quick answers to our questions without any distraction.

There is no "usually", it varies wildly by market, country, and a host of other variables. 2 days isn't much time either, and it was a weekend. See what happens over the next couple of weekdays.
