December 2021 AdSense Earnings and Observations

December is peak shopping season and thus for, most, AdSense publishers the biggest month of the year. But Pandemic, supply chain issues, inflation and everything else happening in 2021, will this year follow the trend?

I started this game in 2005 and I've been relying on Google for 9 years now (since 2013). I will rely on them until I can't. This has been my best year since 2017.

For the first time I am actually seeing negative earnings in AdSense lol. I know the clawback at the end of each month, but today as a Christmas present, I am seeing unexpected deduction that makes the "Your Earnings" negative lol

I have to pay for the privilege to have Google ads on my site.

Turning on or allowing the options first and third-party cookies under adsense setup would this impact the revenues?

Same with Vpaid ads and similar size ads?

I enabled today consent cookies from Adsense, but didnt see any change now. Do you have also this?

May be a coincidence but seing a higher CPC for some sites

I probably wont see normalization of earnings until first or second week of January as the Ad Spend of 2021 seems to have ended. Hopefully clawback wont be so painful this time.

2021 was the best Adsense year for us (since 2006) with December as number 2 best month.
Stable revenues through the year with different niches geographies
all over the last 15 year of research and content expertise in specific segments.

Worth to mention that our clawbacks have been never higher than 0.5 pc with positive clawbacks sometimes; probably because we don t use any soclal network marketing nor other games ( Adsense is smarter than we think).

Making money is also about being hard working and being honest.

@Sissi, similar outcome here. In my case 2021 was my best year, but I wasn't operational in 2006. December was my 2nd best month, down a bit from November.

2021 was good let's see was 2022 has in store for us.

- June clawback 15% (higher than the previous norm of 7%)
- July clawback 24% (new 15-year high)
- August clawback 29% (new 15-year high)
- September clawback 11% (after firewall changes)
- October clawback 13% (very good revenue otherwise - best in 4 years)
- November clawback 11.4% (best revenue month since November of 2017)
- December clawback 11.3% (good revenue otherwise, but not equal to Nov.)

Congrats on the great year. I love hearing good news. Hopefully, 2022 will be even better. 2021 was very good for me too. It was my best year since 2017. I hope COVID doesn't slow down the growth in 2022. Also, I hope a couple of my smaller websites take off. One of them is showing signs, but I need to devote more time to it which I will do this year.

Best year in at least eight years. I thought things were maybe over when the pandemic hit in spring 2020 and revenues plummeted for a few months. Started coming back in fall 2020 and has continued. Fingers crossed for 2022.

You are quite brave to rely only Adsense save if you have enough reserves :)
I ll do this….. when I retire from my real job as I m too anxious knowing that Adsense can stop every hour regardless how high the revenues are including 6 digits p.a.

You have to understand that I was using Adsense for “YEARS” before I was able to not work and rely on that income.

I don’t know what you mean by “stopping every hour.” I have used Adsense for 17 years. It has never “stopped” for me. What do you mean?

Happy to hear this.
I mean stopping at anytime for whatever reason ( new Covid 35 variant, GDPR penalty, whatever policy).
I agree with you in terms of relying on Adsense.
My initial online incone came from Domains trading and it was a fabulous time untill things went down.
The good thing is that neither FAcebook nor Tiktok can kill Adsense as humans will always need THE universal search engine.

Clawback is 2% for me also which is surprising. It seems this time clawback is low for everyone may be due to live clawbacks.

January has started as a disaster.
