Ads missing after going from http to https

I installed a security certificate on my site to allow the https to show up as the "lock" icon in the browser, however when I go to http:// www.mysite.com I see the usual google ads, but on the same page https:// www.mysite.com all the google ads disappear!

is this common?
what can I do to fix this?

Two things:
When you change to https you should have consolidated all your URLs via 301 rewrite rule.

You will need to create and verify a new domain account in GSC because Google sees those two URLs as two different domains. Four different domains if you can also visit http://example.com and https://example.com
