Message Too Old, No Replies

Number of ads you can show has been limited! Account with 500k pvs

Not sure why Adsense is displaying a message in my account all of sudden. My account is a one that has nearly 500K+ pageviews per month and this message popped yesterday.

The message says they are assessing me as publisher and quality of traffic (Most of my traffic 99.5% is from Google and my website gets rated in top 10 for nearly over 200+ keywords and the one of the sites has been around for 5 years)

Whether this can be also related to ad placement? Because I used to have 3 responsive ads (one before the title & one after the title and then one at the bottom in a single wordpress post)..now I have gone ahead and removed one of them.. (Not sure whether that's the cause)

And also I noticed some users from Google Organic search click ads more no of times (A page has got 16 page views today and there has been a CTR of 40% with 6 clicks)..Whether this might be the reason?

Any help in this regard would be beneficial..

Note: Most of the traffic is from India

Hi Shan and Welcome to WebmasterWorld [webmasterworld.com]

If your ads might be pushing the content of your site below the fold on mobile views, they might consider that a problem. The number of visits or clicks does not make a difference. See this recent discussion where the account was closed, not just limited to fewer ads: [webmasterworld.com...]

Do you mean something like this ? Whether these placements are right?

I am sorry Shan, but we do not need to see your actual ad placements to discuss the issue you are reporting. If you view your site and the ads push your content below the initial screen, this can cause AdSense to limit your ads due to your placement. Think of the user experience when you decide where your ads should be placed.

Thanks to your screen caps I was able to find your website (side note: posting specifics and links to your website is against the rules here at WW, you didn't post any specifics in this case but it is just a heads up for the future).

There are many quality issues, none that alone would cause a problem but taken all together, they are definitely a concern. I saw a lot of thin content with ads. There are many questionable ad placements where large ads are positioned ahead of any content. The English is very poor, I understand that it is likely not your first language nor that of your readers, but there is a minimal standard to uphold.

Consider yourself lucky to have been given a warning before the closing of your account, others have not been so fortunate. I strongly recommend that you remove all or almost all ads* from your website while you clean things up. You will likely say "but I can't do that I will not have any revenue", that is true consider it motivation for getting the clean up done quickly. Remember the alternative is getting your account banned, in which case you will not have any revenue either a likely for a much longer time. You can include the ads again progressively as you clean your pages up. That is showing ads again only on cleaned up pages.

Are you using "Auto-ads"? If so don't, the system is garbage and causes more problem than it claims to fix.

* If you remove all the ads for an extending period of time you may need to get the site approved again, which could fail. So it is likely best to keep some ads, I would recommend leaving only the "vignette ads" as the code appears on each pages but is only called when the AdSense algo decides and is not impacted by page layout.

1.Yes you are spot the ads were pushing the content below (Those were responsive ads and have the edited the adcode so it displays 320x100 for Mobile & 728x90 for Desktop viewers)

2. Quality issues - Yes after your comment looked into some of the old posts which were published 3 years ago..some of them were driving traffic and some of the others were not driving traffic. Removed the ones that were not driving any traffic and going to update the ones which had some traffic with the content that is needed for the users

3. Thin content - Yes but I believe I wont be able to do anything about it. For example I have a post that displays COVID-19 Vaccination centres in Mumbai. Lot of people visit those pages and they get the info they need about where they can get their vaccine shot and how many doses are available which are updated dynamically.

Some of the other pages also have some very thin content with just 2 or 3 lines. Going to update them with more information so that it will be useful to the users.

4. First language - Yes..just made it easier for the people to read instead of using grammatically correct sentences!

Right now they say they are assessing only my traffic so I believe it's nothing to do with the content .Thank you for your suggestions as it made me look into the website and delete the content that was outdated and not driving any traffic.

I don't think thin content is a problem itself, I believe this is the ratio content / ad which can be a problem. If you feature a page with 5 lines of text, they might be extremely useful, and good, but if they are surrounded by 3 or more ads, this can be problem.

Personally, I was modulating the number of ads on a page, based on the length of the content.

4. First language - Yes..just made it easier for the people to read instead of using grammatically correct sentences!

Your sentences are missing words, this isn't a grammar thing it is simply bad writing, in any language.

You need to realize that your account is at stake here. You can find excuses for all the issues but in the end it wont matter, AdSense will ban you, and you will be left with no recourse. As I have have already pointed out in my previous post you are very fortunate to have received a warning. Now you have a choice, do the work to really correct the issues and hopefully continue to operate or stick your head in the sand until your account is closed.

Thanks Nick! The message has disappeared now.Your review of my website was an real eye-opener as there were ads that were pushing my content below (Responsive ads to blame) & some of the content was of no use to my visitors (I am still working on removing some others)

These are the changes I did after that

1.Responsive Ads: Before the adsense ads limit message my CPC & CTR was going down & some of the page had 500% CTR which was due to the responsive ads on mobile which occupied entire width of mobile browser.

2. Replaced the ad code in a such a way that it displays mobile size ads (300x250) for mobile & 728x90 for Desktop users. And in addition to that using Adinserter I ensured that a post has a maximum of 2 or 3 ads depending upon the length of the content (Previously it was fixed)

3. Previously there ads were displaying at top of the title and below the title. Replaced it so that now it displays an ad below the title (Only 300x250)..so the content is more visible

Because of all these changes
1.My CTR has improved from 2.5% to in between 3.0-4%
2. My CPC increased significantly (previously it was just 0.04 or 0.03 now it's in the range of 0.06 & above)

And my revenue is also back to normal..I believe the limit was placed was mostly due to the responsive ads as the users were clicking on it when they were scrolling the page..

Not sure whether it's a algo mistake but again a Temporary adserving limit has been placed on my account..I seriously believe it might due to some pages which are having higher CTR's ..but no impact on revenue as of now..

Need to check whether it's due to IP Issues as my ISP uses same IP for lot of users.. (or) it might be a algo mistake based on last month's traffic as it has been exactly triggered after 15 days..
