A very pleasant surprise this morning. After endless months of 30% clawbacks, it was only a little under 2% for December.

Has anyone noticed drops in RPM in recent few days? My RPM has suddenly dropped in couple of days whereas rankings has been same. Is it something to do with what's happening in US or suddenly advertisers have looked the other way.

Yes, the RPM is low for US.
For the rest of the world is very low.

Google just haven't updated my adsense page or sent the usual email

Say what you will about Google/Adsense, they have never missed a payment in the nearly 18 years I've been doing this.

Yes, I’ve never had an issue with Adsense. They have paid all of my bills for the past nine years.

However, I have had an issue with Google’s search engine algorithm updates and some of the major swings that it produces.

No. My CPC and RPM has been fairly steady during January.

Good for you. The month didn't start off very well for me, gonna end up with around the same as January 2020.

Started off pretty bad for me as well, but slowly going on an upward trend for me here, yeah I hope February is a better month for all of us, although it's a shorter month.

Here's a good one. A person I did some work for in the past called me asking about the use of auto-ads. I said, I haven't used them but all I hear are nightmares, I don't recommend them. He said ok, but I'm testing them on a low traffic site. Well let's go look. Page loads.... the first thing you see is an ad rendered in the Google search box. I kid you not! Then there were another six ads in varying sizes randomly scattered across the page breaking the layout. Well needless to say auto ads will be switched off.

1099s don't have to be mailed until January 31st. Actually Feb 1 this year because the 31st is a Sunday.

Crazy, but this has been the best January since the good ole days of January 2017 and prior. Strange since we are in the middle of a pandemic.

Google and Adsense are two different entities, with different rules, goals, methods, state of mind, etc...

Is anyone using "Matched Content" ads and how does it perform for you?

I use one near the bottom in my content pages and it seems to out perform a responsive ad on the same spot, the responsive ad's CPC doubles but the matched content ad more then makes up for it with the amount of clicks.

I’m not sure how matched content ads perform for me. I’ve never checked. I only use them on certain pages to help with user engagement.

Matched content is recommended to be use but sometimes it helps the earnings, sometimes it reduce the earnings AdSense handle it they way they want

Guys is your CPC and RPM okay January aren't cool for me here having the worst CPC and Rpm this January ...November was my best month crazy CPC and Rpm but now so worst AdSense started again ...sad 😟

December was my best month for CPC and RPM, January started off bad but slowly it has been increasing.

In all my years with AdSense, I have NEVER received a 1099.

Do you claim your adsense earnings on your income tax?

Most companies only send 1099s to sole props. If you are a corporation (C, S or LLC that files as a corporation), then no 1099 is sent. And to receive a 1099 as a sole prop, you would have had to fill out a W-9 form. I am an S Corp and have never received a 1099 from Google. P.S. I am not an accountant.
