Trying to put AdSense on a website

I created a couple of new websites with unique and informative information. I've submitted the site for AdSense and made sure I put the code in my header, but the privacy policy in place and have also got one of those little boxes that pop up telling people that the site uses cookies. However, I'm still being told that the site needs attention. I don't know what more I can do. Is anyone else had the same experience?

Did you upload your ads.txt file? They look for that to start evaluating the site.

No, never mentioned anything about uploading a text file. I'm assuming you mean into my root folder?

When I clicked on "add site" it took you through various steps which included copying some code and then pasting it into the header section of the website. Then I made sure my privacy policy was all in place and I put a link in the footer menu. And finally, I've got one of those EU cookie law who pop up things that appear when somebody visits your website. Apart from that, I really don't know what else I can do. I didn't put AdSense code on all the pages because they are not going to allow me to show AdSense then it will just be a lot of work removing it all again. I put AdSense and a couple of pages. It's really frustrating because my other website has been running AdSense for years and it's absolutely no different to the one I'm trying to get through.

It can take weeks for AdSense to evaluate each new site but they don't start until they find your ads.txt file in your root folder.

Looking around the forum for "ads.txt format" several old threads popped up, here is one example: [webmasterworld.com...]

I'm afraid I am at a complete loss. I've gone into my account and there's nothing that relates to ads.txt, and I don't have any messages telling me that I need to fix issues. I actually found helpful YouTube video which went through how to add the ads.txt file to a WordPress website. Basically, the plug-in just provides you with a blank notepad style area to put your code into. But I don't know where to get this code from because there's nothing in my Google AdSense account that indicates I can generate it. Honestly, it really is crazy.

Very strange. I just went into my Google account and decided to the ads section. I enabled auto ads on the website and when I went back to sites, it's now saying getting ready next to the domain, rather than needs attention like it was before. I don't know,, I'm shooting in the dark at the moment.

You do not need to use a plugin to add it to WP, just create a tiny little text file with your account info as explained in the several references I've posted here. You can ftp the ads.txt file to your root directory without involving your WP files. If you look at your site's access logs you will see that Google is sending their Media-Partners bot to request that file.

There is nothing difficult about this, millions of others have managed to do it ;)

Yeah, I hear what you're saying. However, none of the information I have looked at relates to what is going on in my account. For instance, I've not got any messages tellingly I need to fix the ads.txt file. Also, I can't find the following code anywhere in my account. google.com, pub-0000000000000000, DIRECT, f08c47fec0942fa0

That information is what you would see in older ads, before they began with this. Back when you inserted ads one at a time, you could see your pub-id #, that second jumble "f08c47fec0942fa0" is the same for almost everyone, may differ for folks with rseller and/or additional accounts.

Have you looked at any discussions about this because it has all been discussed many times here, I tried to save you the time spent to search.
Have you visited that Google page I linked to where you simply visit and they create your ads.txt for you? They would need the same pub-id information that you can see when you log in to your AdSense account. You can wait until they ask you to do it or you can go ahead and have it ready for them. That is up to you. Just trying to help speed it up for you.

All sorted now. I'd obviously uploaded the ads.txt file into my main website a while ago because I had a quick look today and there was. So I downloaded the and uploaded it to the other two websites. So hopefully, that will do the job now. I can understand what was going on because all the instructions state that click on the "fix now" button and download the file. But I didn't have that notification. Anyway, I can relax now, and hopefully, the websites will start showing ads soon.

I've almost given up hope of getting AdSense on two other websites now. Two weeks ago I put everything in place that was needed, including uploading the text file onto the root. However, I received an email telling me that the site had been reviewed and it still wasn't ready. However, when you go to the account it's also suggesting that they haven't had time to review the site yet. So I don't know whether they looked other, although I haven't. Anyway, I'm not wasting any more time messing around with this. It's not as if the websites bring much traffic at the moment so I'm not really missing out on anything. Just really hacks me off that Google makes things so damn difficult.

... Thar's all the notification said? Back in 2003, Google chased me down and would have held my hand to get AdSense up and running. I miss the old Google..
