Earnings down in 2019 about 7% over the previous year. Visitors slightly up.

Fair enough, personal circumstances resulted in me doing minimal work to my sites in 2019.

2020, fingers crossed, will allow me to work on my sites again and my personal aim is to exceed 2018 earnings in 2020.

Good start to the year. Traffic up, RPM steady, knock on wood. Good luck to everyone this year!

Hello-

All I hope for the new year, is that Adsense stops the brand safety system. I don't mean to disable it, but I think that, once a site has been tested for months or years, and was not showing any kind of violation, they should start serving ads fully on any page. I have sites made of a lot of pages, each pages are not receiving a lot of traffic, but all together , this is 20.000 visitors / day, however, because the pages are not visited frequently, most of them have blank ads, when someone comes. It's only if someone else comes again "soon" that ads will show. As a result, I have a coverage of "only" 30% ! and so my earnings decreased by roughly 70% since the brand safety system was turned on.

Add to this the fact Adsense disabled backup ads, it makes it a lot more difficult to monetize these empty spaces !

After a surprisingly great December, my January earnings are down 15% from last year even with traffic 25-30% higher.

Disabling personalized ads in California due to the CCPA probably accounts for some of the drop. Hopefully it doesn't get any worse.

My traffic is still down this week due to schools still being out for the holidays, so next week will be a better indication of how my revenue is doing. But I can't remember my page RPM ever being as low as it's been these first few days of January.

Oddly, my YouTube AdSense revenue is still doing well. It's the ads on my website that have tanked.

Just curious, has everyone who is experiencing low ad revenue this month disabled personalized ads for California? I know it's January and January is always slow, but I can't help but think the CCPA is part of the issue.

I’ve disabled them and haven’t noticed a difference.

You always expect to do poorly in January but it still hurts logging in.

Ya, my one ad house said the start of 2020 will be very slow for revenue with the pick up expected only after the 2nd week.

Im having the lowest adsense days in my 9 years in the program. RPM is near zero for most countries, US Canada RPM about 50% of average. Coverage also down.

Is adsense having any problems, or is Google giving the ads slots away for free?

Happy New year to Everyone

The negative revenues trend is confirmed.
Not only that Adsense is now offering vouchers for advertisers but also advertising in european TVs for their services.
Too many publishers for less ads.
The active view % gives an idea about ads availabiliy and Adsense preference to your site. This is my experience.

A large number of publishers will give up (SEO and ads constraints).

Adsense remains a good business model for niche areas where the RPM remains high.

Last but least: don t follow the ‚gurus‘ suggestions, but follow your intuition and quality will be rewarded.

Good luck for 2020

Yes, it looks to be a bad month if this continues. Diversify or die.

-50% with the same days in 2019 because some time ago they started loading responsive ads into fixed units as well, try to resize window and you will see this bug on some pages! Possible, ads for phones loading to the desktop websites and need to be clicked two times! Next they deducting those clicks because of Desktop, as a result RPM -50%. AdSense have bugs with responsive ads on desktop.

Even if ads not showing, scripts are loaded and have access to website and ....cookies! Then malicious advertisers can sell information got from cookies on behalf of a website consent? In that case, a publisher get minimal payments, but for "cookies" companies pay 10-1000x more. With responsive ads malicious advertisers can resize an ad unit to the minimal size or just show 1x1 pixel, because they do not need any user interaction, cookies is what they need! AdSense team should review and fix very buggy responsive ad code asap.

January is starting off low like always, but it is MUCH lower than last year. Last year's page RPM 1.24. The same day this year, .84. A decrease of 32.3%. I expected this, but it's still surprising.

Im having blank spaces on my index page. It looks horible. Is there anything I can do about this? All my metrics are down , and especially lower coverage and active view viewable worry me the most.

My coverage is down, too, I suppose because it's January and because there are more places to advertise every year. Low points become a little lower each year.

Just pray, there is nothing else you can do.
It's a disaster this month.

January has always been a terrible month.

Have you all disabled personalized ads for California?

Earnings picked up a little today. Still not great but more in line with what I would expect in January and better than last week's disaster.

It’s January. Christmas is over. NFL football playoffs every weekend. Most advertisers don’t start spending more again until mid- February, at least in my niche. Happens every year. Just have to wait it out.

Things have definitely picked up for me in the past few days. Even with personalized ads disabled in California, I'm now ahead of where I was at this point last year.

Last 3 days have been with 50-60% less of the normal profit. I even received today a 150$ coupon from Google.

I even received today a 150$ coupon from Google.

Good, great, amazing! Why the complaints? If you don't want to use it don't, but if you received it so did many others, tens or hundreds of thousands of publishers. A portion of those will be buying ads that didn't previously intend to and that will prop up the market even if just a little bit. At this time of year Google's should be promoting their products even more.

Seeing slight improvement in US RPM the last couple of days. With simular traffic only 10% down compared to last year.
