December 2019 AdSense Earnings & Observations

November, high season for me, turned out to be the worst month of the year for me. My pageviews increased by 20% year to year, but RPM was very low.

November is the 1st month this year that sees a lower revenue than the same month last year.

Somrthing happened around October 17th, as my active view viewable stats started to decline. This decline is still going on and I feel that the loading time of the ads is to blame for this. The adsense ads load about 1 second after the page content.

I have seen several odd things last month, such as the Serp snippets displaying my cookie banner text. I had ads in Turkish, German and other weird languages, or quite often no ads at all on dynamic pages.

My Uk RPM is, already for 2 months, lower than that of India, which also makes no sense to me.

Too many oddities for me to figure out whats happening to my site and adsense ads. I hope it will bounce back and I will keep producing quality content.

November 2019 turned out to be my worst November since 2012 -- despite the same number of page views. Basically just lower CPC.

I'm kind of pleased with November, in that revenues exceeded expectation, but that was because I had very low (almost no) expectations. But from a purely AdSense perspective, the month was horrible, the second worst month in terms of RPM, and that is for November typically the best month by far. My only saving grace was that an algo update mid-month reverted my lost traffic from September's update. My fingers are crossed for December, but there is no sign of a change as the November trend was basically flat.

November is usually my second worst month every year (December is always the worst), but this year November turned out pretty well. I'd always resisted matched content and vignette ads, but I implemented them in September and they've been helping overall RPM.

November was an OK month all things considered. Middle of the pack for 2019, but should be my highest month of the year. However my traffic from Google has decreased because of a decrease in my SERP rankings, so, revenue has decreased.

Ad revenue is good today...please keep it up through December...please.

I have huge swings in eCPM.

Something happened with auto ads on my site today that caused generation time to increase dramatically which in turn spiked bounce and killed off bot adsense revenue and sales conversions. Way to go. A new round of fat ads must be the culprit. Desktop traffic waaaay down. Analytics was really wonkey today, showing huge numbers that didn't match the active pages listing. Something is up again...or should I say down.

Wow! The traffic on one of my websites just increased by 450% a couple of days ago. Was there a Google algorithm update the first of the month? A lot of my keywords went from about #4 to #1 or 2 in the Google SERP. The first good news in 2 years. I got hit real hard in the December 2017 Google update.

Yesterday (4th) for me Page RPM was significantly down (by 33%), it was my lowest Page RPM possibly ever, certainly for a long time.
Any one else experience similar? (UK targeted).

@gatormark Indeed. But it has to be all month long. And the traffic has to come too because floods of bots won't help.

@seomotionz Yes, my traffic is getting better which is a good sign. I’m not as fearful of the post-Christmas and January lull now. In fact, one of my websites just took off.

Let's not worry about post-Christmas, as January will be dead.
Adsense is ok in December, but Adx is not picking up at all after Black Friday and I speculate that the advertisers are preparing for a short Chrismas push from 20th of December.

My four worst months each year (14 years of Adsense):

January (Post-Holiday blues)
June (School is out)
July (School is out)
August (School is out)

Is your traffic from the USA or other regions? It seems like USA based sites are doing well.

˜35% of my visitors are from US, but I get 70% of the revenue from them.

November, December, January and February are my lowest earning months. That's natural though because of the subject of my main site.

Too early to call for the whole of December, but so far I'm up 10% for Adsense earnings on last year for my main site.
