Google has just published an infographic with traffic tips.

Much of it we probably already know, however, there's always somebody new, and some of us may need a reminder.

Look Ma, no hands! Just let Google applications take care of business.

Sorry, I'm allergic to such blatant cross marketing, it's currently -40C out so a short walk should remove the smell of excrement in the morning.

I think it's just a reminder that you never need to leave the Googlenet. I mean Google Internet. I mean Google is the Internet. Wait.

Arrrgghh! Try and download the .pdf file and I get redirected to another login in page [not my regular Google account] wanting my email address... as...

your.email.address@google.com

I have no such email address, nor do I intend getting one.

[accounts.google.com ]

Going through a lengthy process of using my existing Google account address/password?

Yep, I get redirected to that infernal page above.

Yeah looks like they screwed the pooch with the desktop link. The link for the mobile version [services.google.com] works, though.

Lol - "Rank Highly in Searches".

Thanks for the tip!

The link for the mobile version

Thanks that worked...

At a quick glance I'm not sure we're seeing anything startlingly new. Perhaps a few handy things all in the one handy .pdf file.

Yup, I did say we probably knew most of that, so it's really for newbies.

On that link to the PDF, yes, it looks as if Google messed up somewhere.

Under #1, "Google Search", it says -
- "Submit your page to the Google index ..." Isn't this a 2010 type suggestion, long since replaced by a sitemap?
- "Allow crawler access to access ads ..." HUH? You are SERVING the ads!

Under #2, "Traffic analysis", it says, "Use Google Analytics". I removed it long ago,
when Google was telling us that SPEED WAS EVERYTHING, and it was observed that analytics significantly slowed page loading.
Has this somehow changed?

Under #3, "Channel customisation (sic)", it says, "Create up to 2000 custom channels."
Why the limey spelling, I'm in the U.S.?
How do I do that?
In my control panel, it STILL says I have a 500 custom channel limit!
I am still sitting at 480 used, saving 20 channels for new pages.
Must I go up to my current limit, to get it increased to 2000?
If so, it sure would have been nice, had they TOLD ME that! I would have generated a LOT MORE, for data collection and optimization purposes.

Under #4, "Mobile Optimization" (U.S. Spelling), it says "Use this test... "
WHICH test. I know of 3 of them from Google, which give DIFFERENT results.
NONE of which jive with the new GSC interface "Mobile Usability Report", "Valid" data, which reports only HALF the pages that pass the mobile tests.
HUH?
.
