Adsense app automatically reinstalled, and now has a paw print?

This is a weird experience so I want to see if others have seen it, and what's the deal.

I installed the Adsense app on my new Samsung S8 on Monday. I have a shortcut on my home screen.

This evening I left the phone on the charger for a few hours and stepped away. When I came back, I discovered that the shortcut was no longer on my home screen.

Then I went to look at the apps, and found it at the end of the list, out of order. Which makes me think that it was uninstalled and then reinstalled?

Then upon further inspection, I'm seeing an icon that looks like a paw print in the bottom right of the icon. I don't remember seeing that before.

The app seems to log in just fine, and shows the same data as the website. There are no notifications that my account has been changed or anything. So... what the heck?

Yup, Adsense for Android updated and installed a new icon adding several new features including Payments.

The paw-print is code for "dogfood", and means that Google have released the development version by mistake. And that's why you've got lots of new features, some of which don't work very well.

My guess is that it'll be reverted in the next 24 hours, though that can play havoc internally with release numbers.

Yep. It was weird. This is the beta version! Although there's no open beta version of AdSense. And as James said, this is a mistake.

My app completely disappeared from my phone this morning.

EDIT: Yup, it's come back, out-of-order and with a small paw on the icon.

Just updated again... no pawprint now. Payments and other features still there and all working.
