I have been looking for ways to speed up our site. It looks like ads are the main culprit. Besides using asynchronous adsense code is there any tricks. I have been thinking of looking for particularly slow advertisers and removing them. Has anyone tried this before?

Also has anyone found any adsense alternatives that are particularly fast

"slow advertisers"

Do you mean large file ads that take longer to load? Of course that can be done, but you'd likely spend a lot of time reviewing them with what could potentially be a never-ending chore.

Also consider what loads slow for you may not be slow for other users. Sometimes it's the network or your server or Google's server that is the culprit.

But I agree, adsense is the slowest thing on my site as well.

Also agree Adsense the slowest thing on site - I see 'connecting to and.example.com' messages often. I think it is due to certain of the third party providers on Adsense.

It’s because of all the crap html5 and canvas external libraries that these ads now need.

You didn’t need anything like that with a single swf file.

The webs getting slower and slower
