Is it okay to swap to async code with Mediadotnet?

I have been given async code by my very nice Media dot net representative to replace the regular code after I suggested page load might have gotten slower using the regular code. I am now well over a month in since applying Media on my site and am worried if I replace the existing code for each of the slots with the new async code the optimization process might start from scratch. Is this myth or reality? I don't know but it seems one or two people saying any time you replace Media code the optimization process (process of delivering the most apt links and ads) will start afresh. I really don't know if there's any truth to this.

I'd just give it a go and see for yourself - compare numbers once you have a few days of processing done. I would think that once MediaNet has optimized your account/its system for the site, it's a completed process whether or not synched or asynched code is used. I'm about to check out the async process myself as MediaNet code seems to be slowing down my pages too.

So I got my new async codes and swapped them in. The ad relevance was all over the place for about an hour and then it came back targeting like normal. Did this on two of my sites.
