Page-level ad placement

I'm interested in possibly doing page-level ads. Can I place the ad code in the head section everywhere and let Google figure out when to display on mobile or do I need to pre-filter it so it only displays on mobile pages?

Are there any recent updates about how they perform?

That is exactly how it is supposed to work.

I don't have them displayed on many pages so all in all it doesn't add up to much revenue for me but when they are displayed, they tend to perform very well. I am seeing roughly double the CTR when compared to standard Adsense ads, and likely higher if you where to compare it to the CTR for mobile users only.

Well, I enabled both page-level ad types and when I tested it in a mobile browser (by appending #googleads to the url) the Vignette ads work but Anchors don't display an anchor ad. The header alert indicates that "an anchor ad is being displayed". I restarted nginx, and tried on Safari and Chrome (also incognito mode) with the same results. Anyone encounter that problem before?

Anchor ads show up 5-10% of the time for most of my websites, it'll eventually show if you refresh enough times.

By appending #googleads to the URL in mobile it's possible to test it out right away.
