I thought I would apply to be whitelisted with adblock, they replied with a link to acceptable ads

Most of which exclude adsense, unless you go text only.

Text ads

Text ads designed with excessive use of colors and/or other elements to grab attention are not permitted

.
Image ads

Static image ads may qualify as acceptable, according to an evaluation of their unobtrusiveness based on their integration on the webpage.

What is not considered an Acceptable Ad?

The following types of ads are currently unacceptable *, and cannot be considered for inclusion on the whitelist:

Ads that visibly load new ads if the Primary Content does not change
Ads with excessive or non user-initiated hover effects
Animated ads
Autoplay-sound or video ads
Expanding ads
Generally oversized image ads
Interstitial page ads
Overlay ads
Overlay in-video ads
Pop-ups
Pop-unders
Pre-roll video ads
Rich media ads (e.g. Flash ads, Shockwave ads, etc.)

If you pay them enough, they will allow to server .exe files to your users, no problem..

I tried setting mine to text only to get myself on the whitelist but revenue fell significantly. I wondered if there would be a way to detect Ad Blocker and serve a text only ad to their users but text/image ads to everyone else.

I can't see how that would be possible without breaking Google rules about messing with ad code, but Ad Blocker could be detected using javascript, and a javascript cookie could be picked up server side on the next page load and prompt a text ad to display in place of a text/image ad.

I use Adblock Plus in IE 11 and I see AdSense text ads everywhere.

I can't recollect anything about display ads, because I really don't notice. The AdSense text ads I see are usually embedded within posts on various forums.

The only annoying problem is in IE 11 itself with the usual message:
! An error has occurred in the script on this page.
Line: 0
Char: 0
Error: Script error
Code: 0
URL: http://example.com
and then it prompts me: 'do you want to continue running scripts on this

page? YES / NO

Inevitably they are nearly always AdSense/Tracking scripts. I don't normally see them in FF because I use NoScript.
