I trialed responsive units on my site a few times now and honestly the CTR is the worst out of every unit I have ever used in 3 years. My usual CTR on ad units is around 1%. With responsive units the CTR is 0.08%.

I want to use responsive ads but I also don't want to get a few cents per day. Do they perform horribly for everyone? If so why is Google trying to push them by giving incentives like the ability to use display:none on them and special exceptions and talking them up like they work fantastically on mobile and tablet?

Is there anything you are doing differently with them? Or are you just using the barebones default code?

I haven't modified their code. I do use channels, that's about it. (And when I went all responsive, I used at least one of the same channels I used before, so I'd have the history)

Hi netmeg, could you explain why you use Channels? An example would be nice. Thanks!

There's lots of information in this forum on channels, some of which I have supplied myself. I suggest you use the search. I have spent a lot of time answering questions and prefer not to keep answering the same ones over and over.

I switched my main site and the ads to responsive 2 months ago and its shocking, used to get upto 3% now its 0.5% CTR. I can't see channels helping that much but I have added the responsive ad to my channels and will give it a few days before putting rectangles or banners on it.
