Some time last month, my processed server-log stats started showing a referrer with a "URL" of "New Click Adsense". (That is, where there should have been a URL representing the remote site which sent the user to my site, there was only the string "New Click Adsense".)

I can't find any information on this "referrer" through Google's search engine. Currently, it's the third largest referrer to my site. Has anybody else seen this? Does anybody have any idea whether this represents something legitimate, or does this represent something that needs to be fixed, blocked, or whatever?

Thank you.

Eliz.

I've never seen it, and I look over the logs on some pretty heavily trafficked sites. I doubt it would be legitimate - even the "clicks" reported in StatCounter aren't necessarily accurate. And no way Google is going to show us actual clicks in our logfiles. I'm thinking maybe some kind of referrer spam. Can you tell if they come from multiple IP numbers? And do they show up in Analytics?
